Tradition Be Damned (7/25)
The European Union's employment and social affairs directorate has proposed a sweeping rash of rules aimed at battling discrimination against women. The proposed laws would force insurance companies to give men and women the same rates for pension annuities and car insurance, overriding the actuarial data the companies use to calculate risk. The rules also would bar TV programs that depict sexual stereotypes and ban topless "Page Three" girls from the continent's newspapers.

overriding the actuarial data

Which is why the Left cannot be allowed to control an economy. Anyone who is not brain-dead will be able to predict the future.

Currently (let's say):
Gender A pays $1000 a year for insurance.
Gender B pays $1200 a year for insurance.

Soon:
Everybody pays $1200 a year!

See, isn't that so much better?

From further along in the article:

But local media outlets are reporting that the raid was triggered by Clark's efforts to photograph sensors placed on public lands around the infamous Area 51. Clark, who hasn't been charged with any crime, says he isn't a terrorist. He's angry that citizens are being monitored by the military on public land, miles from the well-marked boundaries of the base.

If you are angry at being monitored and are photographing government surveilence devices, you are a terrorist. A terrorist is anything the government wants it to be under the patriot act. Anyone disagreeing with this may be considered a terrorist, if it suits the authorities to consider him such.

But I looked at the rest of the page, too. There's plenty of fuel for my rebel fire on there, let me tell you.
