I posted earlier that I believe that Clinton set up the other Democrats that are running in '04 by sending McAuliffe out with the STOU talking points and then waiting until all the candidates made complete fools of themselves to make his statements. He also sent the DLC out with an article in the WSJ last week, decrying the takeover of the party by the extreme left wing, saying that it would undo all the centrist gains that Clinton had made. I believe that Clinton is clearing the deck for Hillary to run as a centrist.

"Rep. Jim Turner, Texas Democrat, said Mr. Clinton's comments were a message to the nine Democratic presidential hopefuls that bashing Mr. Bush on the war could create the impression that the party is weak and short-sighted with regard to defense and national-security issues. "That's the wrong message," Mr. Turner said.
No, that's exactly the right message, Mr. Turner.

Bill Clinton made mistakes. He made one mistake that weighed two hundred and twenty pounds.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Democrat, also didn't seem to be on the same page as her husband. She repeated her call yesterday for an investigation into the Iraq-Africa nuclear link. Gee Mrs. Clinton .. do you really want to do that.
Seems, your co-president hubby thought Saddam had a nuke program also.
State of the Union 1998
Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nations wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. The United Nations weapons inspectors have done a truly remarkable job, finding and destroying more of Iraqs arsenal than was destroyed during the entire Gulf War. Now, Saddam Hussein wants to stop them from completing their mission. I know I speak for everyone in this chamber, Republicans and Democrats, when I say to Saddam Hussein, you cannot defy the will of the world. And when I say to him, you have used weapons of mass destruction before. We are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again.
What did he know and when did he know it?

Any staement by Clinton that appears to support or feign understanding for President Bush; can only be powder for the DNC.
Clinton believes in nothing but himself and how he can get back in the White House.
The man is a perjury and clearly insane.

From the article~~
"The comments were widely interpreted as a message to Democratic presidential candidates that their constant criticism of Mr. Bush's Iraq policy is pushing the party too far to the left..." Nah. I smell legacy building. That "9/11 Report" must point more than one finger in Clinton's direction. (If the media ever reports it.)

"I think there should be an independent investigation," Mrs. Clinton said. "I've called for it. How credible are these claims? Well, the claim was, Mrs. Clinton, that British intelligence has learned that Saddam recently sought nuclear material from Africa. Since the speech the British have publicly stood by their statement.
Investigation complete.

Absolutely right on with your comments.
Everything these people do is calculated, and purely selfish.
I also agree with Rush that no matter when Hellary decides to run, the negative factor is going to send her into a tailspin.
I also wonder whether the Dem Party will split with the Clintons trying to run the show. There has got to be alot of ticked off people right about now.

"That's the wrong message," Mr. Turner said. "The Democratic Party clearly has difficulty discussing this issue because they are perceived as not being as strong on national security as the Republican Party. That's just not true." I love reading democrats, they are just sooooo delusional

The rest of the DNC seems to be oblivious to what the Clintons are doing. They go right on blathering about the WMD and the one sentence in the STOU, they even put out that horrible, misleading ad after Clinton made his statements. I don't get it. Either they are all stupid or its all a part of the plan.

I agree. The Dem base, as rabid as has it has been for more left wing representation, would still vote for Hillary even if she ran on the GOP platform!

I just can't believe that the '04 candidates don't feel betrayed by Terry McAuliffe. He's Clinton's man and yet he led them in the direction of opposition to the Iraq war and
questioning the WMDs. He helped them make complete foos of themselves and now Clinton is finally making public statements that are supporting the Bush administration. They should be irate at this betrayal.

The candidates can't get in a pissing match with Saint Clinton. But the base absolutely HATES the DLC even if they still love Clinton.

Bill's legasssee will not survive a real investigation into his corruptions of the various law enforcement and intelligence agencies. XXX-42 is trying to call off the dogs, but the loosed are the dogs of war. They are marking Bill's leg.
Bill and Hillary's one successful military assault was at Mt. Carmel, Waco, Texas. That exercise in overwhelming force only lasted 51 days, however it is still remembered all too well today.
The Monica misdirect cruise missle shoot off is only one waste of assets. His justification along with the Dem's letter of encouragement nails both XXX-42 and his Congressional coprophages. Even the "aspirin factory" proved to be based on "bad intel".
Hillary may throw more - tantrums, lamps, ashtrays, and books before her dream as America's "Mommy Dearest Leader" is satisfied. Her hotflashes of political genius should make women and men pause.

"Clinton is clearing the deck for Hillary to run as a centrist. "Perhaps, but Hillary doesn't seem to be cooperating. She's can't resist getting on the liberal bandwaggon. He can set them up all he wants, but if he can't get Hillary to reign in her true self, she will never be perceived as a centrist. Thank goodness.
