UNITED STATES SENATOR ILLINOIS DICK DURBIN P R E S S R E L E A S E
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For Immediate Release Contact: Melissa Merz (202) 224-7028 December 17, 1998
DURBIN STATEMENT ON MILITARY ACTION AGAINST IRAQ I fully support President Clinton and our national security team's decision to take swift action against Saddam Hussein.
The attack against this dictator should come as no surprise.
The record clearly shows that he has harassed American and United Nations inspectors, ordered the destruction of important documents in anticipation of inspections and hampered the ability of inspectors to carry out their mission. His defiant protection of his weapons of mass destruction cannot go unanswered.
The mission has bipartisan support, including U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms (R-NC), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee; U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN); and U.S. Sen. John Warner (R-VA), incoming Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
I call on those who question the motives of the president and his national security advisors to join with the rest of America in presenting a united front to our enemies abroad.
The men and women who are risking their lives in defense of our national and global security deserve nothing less.

The RNC should be making 5,10,15 second radio/tv spots with a simple: "Who said this?" Then read the statement, and give the author and date.
Unlike Josef Goebbels and the Democrats, we will be repeating the TRUTH over and over until people actually know it!
To: TheEaglehasLanded
The spin has already begun. The leftist x42 worshippers and Bush haters are saying that ithere is a huge difference because clintoon just lobbed a few cruise missiles and didn't commit ground troops. Gary Hart was spouting off the LLL (latest liberal lie) on Hannity Tuesday.

Please apply for a job with the RNC! (At teh very least send your idea to them, please!) They should do several of these, including scrolling the names of all of the Dems who voted to support Clinton's bombing of Iraq and overthrowing Milsovich (sp).
Brilliant!

Called Senator Durbin's office and read this statement to his aide..........the response was........The Clinton administration is over now!

Those were his exact words........give them a call......1-877-762-8762......it's toll free to the US Capitol and they'll connect you to anyone you wish.
I read the statement to the man and he gave me that bull$hip back.
He also made the comment that Senator Durbin didn't call the President a liar altho I made no mention of anything that could have brought his comment.

Called Senator Durbin's office and read this statement to his aide..........the response was........The Clinton administration is over now! One could do all kinds of fun things with this statement.
For instance: Any political position held by Dick Durbin during the Clinton Administration is no longer valid.
To: OldFriend
So Durbin office thinks Saddam was a nuke threat only when Clinton was in office .. but not when Bush is in office huh?
Someone forgot to tell Clinton
"There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein's regime poses a threat to his people, his neighbours and the world at large because of his biological and chemical weapons and his nuclear programme."

Seems that is the position taken by Durbin's office.
In other words, that was then, this is now........I suggested to the man that the only thing that changed ws that we had a president named Bush who finished the job.

I have been hearing Nancy Skinner on the Doug Stephan show lately...she's apparently a liberal demo. and she's running for the US Senate in Illinois. She sounds sooooo much like Hillary Clinton (screechy voice). Any chance she might win? Good ole' Doug sure seems to like her...seems like it would be giving her an advantage to continue to be on his show as a sort of co-host every day!

On the issue of hypocrites...Tom Daschle
This president failed so miserably in diplomacy that we are now forced to war. --Tom Daschle, March 20th 2003, when President Bush, struck Iraq
We have exhausted all of our diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and with international law. Given that . . . we have got to force them to comply, and we are doing so militarily. --Tom Daschle, Sep 25th 1998, when President Clinton, struck Iraq
