President Bush, flanked by Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Richard B. Myers, and U.S. Administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, spoke this morning in the White House Rose Garden regarding the killing of the monstrous sons of Saddam Hussein, Uday and Qusay yesterday, and the positive effect it would have on the Iraqi people, and citing the great progress that has been made by the Coalition Forces in Iraq.

Later in the morning he welcomed former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, and Argentine President Nestor Kirchner in the Oval Office. He also found time to honor the Presidential Medal of Honor recipients in the East Room, including Vaclav Havel, Van Cliburn, John Wooden, Roberto Clemente, Dave Thomas and Charleston Heston.

There are lots of pictures today, so enjoy your ample Daily Dose of Dubya!!

prayer heavenward for your continued recovery. Is it very painful?

I checked into LASIK but I'm not a good candidate. I'd have to wear some sort of corrective lenses anyway, even post procedure, so I'll stick with my coke bottle lenses. sigh.

Unfortunately, old Cruz is saying he might authorize and call the recall election, but not the replacement election - he wants to treat them as separate. He will probably leave it up to the courts and take the job upon himself (if he can get away with it.)

When I was a kid my mother worked two jobs. One of the jobs was as a book keeper for a Drive In, in Southern California. My sister and I would go with her on weekends if the movie was okay. We'd get free pop and hot dogs..and play on the swingset below the screen. :o)

I don't know......is 133 degrees bad?? :o)

When we told him about our trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the fact that it was 115 degrees, he said that we now knew what it felt like in Baghdad at 10 in the morning!

On Sunday, we talked with him in the evening, and it had gone down to 105!

Hopefully, August will start cooling down.....

Yes, the Ten Commandments. As Moses, he fell in love with the beautiful Yvonne De Carlo. Yul Brynner was excellent as the evil pharoah Ramses.

He was also wonderful opposite Sophia Loren in El Cid.

Another excellent work of his was in the miniseries, "Chiefs" - he played the patriarch of a small southern town called Delano, Georgia. It also starred Wayne Rogers and Billy Dee Williams, and chronicled a serial murderer (played by Keith Carradine) over more than 20 years.

What a career he has had - he was also wonderful as Will Penny - so many more that I can't recall them all.

I most certainly do remember drive-in movies. The audio was crummy for sure, but that big screen was pretty neat.

Summer nights at the drive-in. sigh, things were simpler then...

Sympathies to you on the loss of your Dad. Sounds like he was a wonderful man.

Thank you. Dad wasn't perfect, but who is? He was a hard-working, responsible person who cared deeply for his family. Worked two jobs during most of my childhood. Never wealthy but saved sensibly so mom can now live comfortably.

If I understand correctly, the California Constitution would consider Cruz Bustamonte acting Gov in the case of a recall. It'll be interesting to learn who decides to run in the event of a recall election.

i agree! he's too handsome to keep locked up all day!!

Agree here, too. Rummy is quite the hunk. (I also hope everyone has noticed that L. Paul (Jerry) Bremer is quite the handsome fella too!

It's so neat to see all these REAL MEN instead of the girly-boys (Georgie-Porgy Steponallofus, Albore, Bill Cohen, Janet Reno (oops!) we had to put up with during the loathsome X42 years.

LASIK vision correction on both eyes.

WooHoo!!! I'm getting it done too in a couple of weeks. Please let us know how it turns out. My daughter and her hubby both had it done two years ago, and they LOVE it!

But in the case of a recall, he would only be acting for 2 days until it was certified, unless he gets away with his shenanigans and makes it two separate elections.
