Disarming people doesn't work. All it does is create criminal empowerment zones, where the perp is safer. If people there were armed, the creap would likely be dead already, instead of escaped.

Exactly. Even in City Hall, where there are surely police about, one's own safety is only one's own responsibility.

Shepard Smith just interviewed Councilman McMahon(eye witness) and he said assailent was wearing light colored summer suit.

I was held up at gun-point one time and I described the gun to the policeman. I said silver because I was referring to the color. In the aftermath of that horrible event, I really just tried to spit out the color of the gun as I saw it. The policeman patiently explained to me that silver guns were very rare and I was really ticked. I knew what I saw. I described color; he meant material. I assume that is what is happening here.
