Pentagon officials: Firefight may have killed Saddam's sons U.S. source: 'Could have met their maker'
And He won't be weating a turban!
To: dead
CNN said US government sources said they are "reasonably optimistic the two sons have met their maker".
Uday was the Ace of Hearts and Qusay the Ace of Clubs in the US deck of cards of most wanted Iraqis.
US troops were questioning the owner of the vast mansion - Saddam's cousin - when gunfire erupted from the compound. During the fierce gun battle that ensued, US troops called in air back-up to target the house.

It's going fast but not that fast. The live thread on the day our troops made it to Baghdad was going so fast it was totally impossible to keep up.

I guess they wouldn't have liked me teaching my 12 year old girl cousins to shoot my 9mm automatic either, eh?LOL, not in my neck of the woods, I live in Ct. But I'll be teaching my grandkids when the time comes.

f True, do the army units who killed them get the $30 million for their platoon bars?
That'll buy a lot of beer and booze with some left over for about 100
years of going away parties.
It most certainly will be
"Whisky for my men, beer for my horses"
Let Iraqi Freedom Ring!

Scarborough has been doing Hollywood this week. How can you stand it? As long as I can hit the MUTE button when she starts to talk, I don't mind looking at Heather Tom at all.

Fox News just reported that the Pentagon is reporting that they were likely killed! What a great news day this could be!
Am ready for something to shove the Niger story off the headlines that the media has been using to attack President Bush.

I don't know but there could have been only one other thread I could have wished to start and that would have been the announcement that it was Saddam himself!
Might just have to "frame" this one when its confirmed! :)

Someday we need a thread on what teachers and schools are doing to quell the warrior instinct. I saw it first hand with my born to be a soldier grandson, the bloodthirstiest kid I knew, a natural leader, loved to play war games, worshipped men in uniform and loved to hear war stories from me given to me by my father. He went to school and after a few weeks I was telling him about my second cousin who teaches men in the army to go down ropes while shooting,,,he is a ranger or something. Before school he would have been glued to the story dying to meet his soldier cousin. He looked very pained and said "I couldn't do that, it would be wrong to shoot people",,after explaining they were bad people trying to get us, he still wouldn't budge,,,his teacher has been teaching him pacifism. Now I don't want a criminal but kids need to know that soldiering and all it entails is honorable and worthy of emulating as grown ups. I think his teacher harmed him and it made me furious.
Rush says Odai and Qusai have assumed room temperature.

I'm wondering if the fact that Saddam's sons were killed will have any effect on Saddam himself. Will he react? How will he react? Will this compromise his security, allowing us to capture or kill him? Does Saddam have agents in the US to enact a doomsday scenario, and does this incident trigger that?

Hmmm... in Iraq room temperature would be quite a bit above body temperature. Where they're going I expect it's WAY above body temp.
