I don't think Bush is dumb. I wonder why he allowed so many false and misleading statements prior to the new doctrine of pre-emption? My best hope is that he is dumb, not evil.
To: UnBlinkingEye
It really has come down to that hasn't it? Remember all the "dumb mistakes" by Clinton during his many scandals? Now we are reduced to picking between either Bush is a mislead dupe by his own suborndinates or that he is a liar. Either option is not rosey.

Did
I mention the '16 words'? No, don't think so. What I did mention however was his statement towards the end of the speech
But let there be no misunderstanding: If Saddam Hussein does not fully disarm, for the safety of our people and for the peace of the world, we will lead a coalition to disarm him.
And as I stated to the other poster. Bags of beans and an old centrifuge are not WMDs

RE: the Bush-Bashers and Lurking Libs: We were supposed to act pre-emptively before 9/11. Now we're supposed to wait for something to happen before we act. What am I missing?
Does anyone want to have gone through all of this with X42 or albore? Sheesh.

I think bringing up Clinton is a mistake. It reeks of animosity and finger pointing. Reps should go for the high ground here. The war was just and moral. Does anyone want to reinstall Saddam. The mid east peace process, flawed though it is, is a result of the war.
If you want to point to a democratic President who played games with the truth to get America invoved in a war, point to FDR. And i don't mean the Pearl Harbor stuff. FDR had the USA involved in a naval war against Hitler as early as May 1941. He deliberately placed the old battleships Texas and Arkansas on locations that could bring them into conflict with Bismarck. American pilots flew the PBYs that relocated Bismarck, and a USCGC,the Modoc, directed Royal Navy swordfish aircraft toward Bismarck. In Sept 41 a US DD, the Greer, tracked a U boat and reported its poition to an RAF bomber which depth charged the sub. The sub fired two torps at the Greer which attacked with depth charges. FDR cried piracy and issued a shoot on sight order to the USN.American shipsprotected convoys to England as far as Iceland. FDR deceived the American people, tried to maneuver Hitler to attack American ships and lied about it.Pretty dramatic stuff. From the vantage point of 62 years later he was right and the American people were wrong about the danger facing the world from Hitler and Nazism. Hitler had no plans to invade America that anyone can find. He tried to avoid an incident, much to the dismay of his admirals, Raeder, Doenitz, and Lutjens. Did that make FDR a renegade president who should have been impeached? Not for his actions from spring to fall 41. He was right! So is George Bush!! That's the argument we must make!!!

WE he said he wouldn't sign a CFR bill, but by gosh he did.I don't know where you got that notion. The only thing I ever heard him say was that if it wound up on his desk he would sign it. I was against the bill for all the reasons that it's a bad deal, but as it turns out, it is killing the Democrats and their ability to raise money for the coming election.

Ummm, your "list of lies" reads like a talking points pamphlet for the democrats. I didn't realize we had one here.
And those are opinions, not proven facts. Prove to me right now that there are no WMD buried somewhere in Iraq.
Are you so dense that you didn't catch the proven links between many other terrorist groups besides Al-Queda? And Saddams support for them was no problem for us why?

KOSOVO
He claimed mass murders of tens of thousands justified the bombing of innocent civilians. There was never any evidence of these supposed mass murders.
He must have had 'thin intelligence'.

No, Clinton's first lie as President was when he took the oath of office and swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Yes, specifically, he said there were 100,000 deaths - a massacure - and the UN only found about 1200 - but our bombs ended up killing more than that. The Balkans.
Why wasn't x42 hanged for such a stupid stunt ..??

Bush, unlike his predecessor, has not chosen to give empty speeches in which he promises to punish the people responsible. He actually follows through on his word, and attacks against America, and her allies, have real, and very grave consequences for the perpetrators and the countries that would harbour them. Finally America has a President who is not afraid to take names and kick ass and that is exactly why the left wing of America is scared shitless. Their phoney concern for fighting men and women just wont wash with the American public.

If Bush called for the nationalization of every business you would support him and call it "conservative".

Oh dear, oh dear...you need to go back to work, dear, vacation time has melted what few working brains cells you have left.
Attempting to know what's in my mind/what I think, is foolish. You have yet to be correct about anything other than the USA's stance during WW I . Even then, you manage to be off the mark somewhat.
Let's look into the posts YOU make and draw the hypothosis ( a truism, nontheless ! ), that no matter WHAT President Bush says and/or does, YOU are against it and him. You can't even bring yourself to say anything good about him at all...no matter what.
