You think that saying the same thing over and over again in large print is an "argument?" Lots of rock solid conservatives disagree with you. This is a powerful cartoon.

If you'll think about it, I think you'll agree that the Democrats have been engaging in character assasination of Bush. While I wouldn't have chosen this method, how better to portray exactly what they are doing than this? It took some ba--s for Ramirez to out the Dems the day he did. The more this flares up, the more that message might get spread. Bush did the right thing going into Iraq, and the poor little Dems are just pissed as they can be that it all went as smoothly as it did.

I do think your analogy is correct here. Lincoln at Ford's theater, with "politics" written on the J.W. Booth characature, would that have been more palatable? I could actually see that cartoon, with women on the stage taking off their burkhas. That would really confuse folks. Are they strippers, are they being liberated?
We have gotten to soft I think. We play softball politics compared to the time of the founding fathers. They were brutal and brutally honest about one another. The cartoonist either misjudged, or accurately judged the reaction he would get.
I am sure more people will look at his work now though. Leftists hate this guy. The last cartoon before this one is a beauty about Gray Davis and the recall, mocking those who say the recall is going to destroy California, when Davis has already in actually done the job of it himself.

Coulter's remark is gonna cause some real cognitive dissonance for some Freepers here tonight!

Vet married couple in midwest was arrested and jailed after a remark to Clinton at a public appearance.
IRS went after them, their home was threatened, legal bills up the wazoo.
Check it out.
They never inferred any threat either.
Clinton and his goon squads did the deed.
What has the couple done to recover from their massive financial losses?
Asked Congress, like the Clintons did to get reimbursed?
Clintons got some money, not all, but were legally investigated and taken into court.
Bush has to much class to do that, but could put the freeze on certain media and kick out some WH Press Corps reporters like Clinton did to several he banned from the WH.
Of course, the press would scream this time!
Bush and his top people need to back off on comments and media access.
He cannot win with them and can only make things worse, as you see with the Iraq and Niger BS and many other dumb things.

It doesn't change my opinion about the cartoon. Initially, most people who have never see the photo will think it is pro-assassination.With the word Politics on the back???

> The individual targeted was a Viet Cong "sapper" who was among a group of V. C. who had just murdered the policeman's wife and children.
>This was an incident during the Tet offensive of 1968 when the communists attacked previously 'safe' several cities in that manner.

It's Sunday night. If you need to pick on somebody, bring it on. The cartoon crossed the line which is my opinion. Call me and MY FRIENDS, the Secret Service, stupid if you must. LOL

500 posts and counting, all because people (including Drudge) are too stupid to realize this is a POLITICAL CARTOON...
There is an alternative interpretation.
PERHAPS some of those who have been self-importantly pontificating on this thread about their own (imagined) superior mental capacity are not as cerebrally gifted as they presume.
Try to bend your mind around this fairly straightforward concept:
MOST of us who are extremely disappointed and saddened by the trivialization of such a EXTRORDINARILY powerful image from a very troubling time in the social history of this country DO "get" this cartoon.
We just do not LIKE it.
Condescension is a character defect best left to the liberals, IMHO.

My recollection of the event is in post 591. The photo is a still from a video and, yes, the guy's brains were blown out.

Actually, I know several Secrect Service agents (one of whom was stationed in Chappiqua with Her Heinous and who was called down to NY to help in the Twin Towers cleanup/investigation). None of them would be dumb enough to consider that cartoon a "threat"...
