SAN FRANCISCO -- Gov. Gray Davis jump-started his drive to beat back a recall campaign Saturday, accusing Republicans of trying to reverse laws on gun control, abortion, the environment and other issues he has championed.
Before about 225 supporters at a hastily arranged rally here, the governor was joined by Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and several other prominent Bay Area Democrats in denouncing the recall as a GOP stalking horse.

Brown, his voice rising, reminded the crowd that "Democrats won in November of 2002 up and down the ticket."
"We swept the deck," he said, "and we have a right to implement and pursue the policies for the next four years under Gray Davis' leadership."

Yeah, Right Willie! You won it fair and square, lying and cheating all the way.

The Dems screamed bloody murder at Tom DeLay's being involved in the TX redistricting issue (even though DeLay's a Texan), so why is it all right for McLowlife to be involved in CA's recall? Hypocritical much?

I wonder how much they paid them to show up.

""Make no mistake, my friends," Davis told the supportive crowd, standing in front of a banner that read "Democrats United." "This election is not about changing governors. This is about changing direction. We want to go forward. They want to go backward." "

A simple "Well, of course!" is the only response necessary from the GOP. The Republican candidate (the ONLY one, we hope), should be able to turn this tactic around with ease.

I recall reading on FR that Davis won by 400,000 votes. That's not a sweep, imo.

"accusing Republicans of trying to reverse laws on gun control, abortion, the environment and other issues he has championed Uh, and your point is?

Isn't it interesting that more Dems are using President Bush's *make no mistake* line. Hmm.

To: ICE-FLYER
He's trying to change the subject. It will work - if Republicans let him make THEM the issue.

More easily said than done, I'm afraid...we can't forget that this is a heavily demonrat state. I still don't hesitate to say that if this recall is successful, we on the right are going to rue the day it happened.
We're on the verge of a very nasty 'slippery slope'; the rats won't let this go away quietly.

"He's trying to change the subject. It will work - if Republicans let him make THEM the issue."Well, if Republicans weren't out to reverse Grey's hot pink gun, environazi and abortion laws they wouldn't be very good Republicand would they? I see he left out the part where they want to get rid of some of his taxes. This pantywaist accusation by Grey opens him to TONS of sarcasm from Republicans. He's too stupid to realise he's being made the butt of the jokes.

I saw Bob Mulholland on Fox News with Tony Snow today & he was really going mental. Accusing the Republicans of busing in felons to stay in motels and sign recall petitions. Then, he claimed they had video tape of petitions "just left on tables for anyone to sign"....went on to accuse Issa of having an "armful of prison tattoos"....

Bob is a peice of crap....but the accusations now need to be addressed....the gloves are off and they are scared.
