July 20 British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Sunday he would accept responsibility if a probe into the suicide of a government scientist pointed to any wrongdoing by members of his government. Meanwhile, the British Broadcasting Corp. identified David Kelly as the main source for the report that the government exaggerated evidence of Iraqs weapons. THE PRIME Minister said in an interview with Britains Sky News television, he had no intention of resigning over the death of the Ministry of Defense biologist which has rocked his government. He also rejected a request from the opposition to cut short a Far East trip and recall parliament to debate the case. |

So much for Sky News being conservative just because it's owned by Rupert Murdoch.
How many headlines do you recall seeing that read "Clinton won't quit over Foster's death"?

This is the nascent Mainstream Media Shenanigans ping list. Please freepmail me to be added or dropped.
Please note this will likely become a high-volume list.
Also feel free to ping me if you come across a thread you would think worthy of the ping list. I can't catch them all!

Why should Blair quit? Mr. Kelly appears to have been a rat who was exposed.

The real headline is: BBC SEXED-UP PHONEY URANIUM STORY
To: Timesink
So who in the BBC will resign over exagerating Kelly's claims, claims which Kelly himself renounced to Parliament's official inquiry prior to his...death?

In other news, Bush says that he will not roll over and allow people to scratch him on the belly just because Tonya Harding just recently published a new vegetarian cookbook.

So much for Sky News being conservative just because it's owned by Rupert Murdoch. During the war they had some creepy propaganda pieces that Fox aired without comment. It was really weird.
As to this particular story. I see my suspicions have been confirmed and Kelly was in fact the source.
How the media mixes this up to be that Blair should resign---even as a contemplation--is bizarre. The only way that would fit is if Kelly's leaks to the reporters were true and Blair was lying about the reports. The fact is it was Kelly who was leaking disinformation to reporters in an effort to undermine Blair and his country. Blair is one of Kelly's victims, not vice versa.

Yep, people in Britain actually pay a tax on every TV they own for the "privilage" of having the BBC bringing in their propaganda to British households.

I suggested to a British FReeper a while ago that the Brits need to have their own T(V) party. And I thought NPR was bad.

Why should Blair quit? Mr. Kelly appears to have been a rat who was exposed. Now, now. You are employing logic when there's an agenda to be pursued!
The fact is that Kelly was colluding with the media to undermine Blair and was caught. When he killed himself the media didn't pause to change course, but kept the same script that Blair has done something wrong. I guess they are pretending that Kelly's leaks were accurate and Blair was hyping British intelligence. The facts in actuality are that Kelly was lying about Blair and how Blair should be held accountable for the knife in his back is beyond me.

So who in the BBC will resign over exagerating Kelly's claims, claims which Kelly himself renounced to Parliament's official inquiry prior to his...death? Oh, I think Kelly may well have said very close to, if not exactly, what the BBC reported. He has been leaking for awhile. This wasn't the first time and if he kept doing it he must not have minded what he was seeing in the media.

His death says otherwise.

Funny thing....CNN's London reporter said this morning that the writer who interviewed Kelly on this subject totally twisted his words.

It's a yearly charge, and has nothing to do with how many TVs you own. Still a ludicrous situation of course!

Anyway the basic point is that all the revenues basically go directly into the BBC coffers.

Yeah...I remember Foxnews going to Skynews way too often for their inside stories. On a positive note, I do recall Shep cutting-in and interupting their propaganda on a couple occasions.
