There's nothing quite like a vacation to recalibrate that ol' B.S.-O-Meter. For constant exposure to buncombe and intellectual inanity tends to produce inurement instead of the outrage it should. All work and no play makes for one dull Sunday columnist.

If you substitute the word white for black and black for white and see how it sounds---thats a indication of how racist the origional quotation is..

"What is the KKK"
True enough, but you won't catch politicians visiting and support the KKK. You won't see companies donating huge money to the KKK and the only place you could find KKK members spouting there hatred is the Jerry Springer show. Besides, most white Americans detest this organization! This white American wouldn't be caught dead at a KKK meeting....I hate them as much as I hate the NAACP.

Molly Ivins is sitting on her mouthROTFL ... as were the rest of the aforementioned 'limousine liberals' so adeptly skewered by Mr. McNickle.
The truly tragic part is that Bond has managed to lie, cheat and steal his way to a lifestyle that is better than 99% of his black brethren, and yet he feels free to spew this hateful bile.
I am ashamed to admit that I am of the same species as this 'man', let alone that we share the same skin color.

Jefferson Davis was no war criminal and he neither asked for nor ever wanted to receive any pardon from the federal government. Simply put, he did nothing wrong and that is why the u.S. Congress and Supreme Court wouldn't touch his much talked about "treason" trial with a 10 foot pole. They wouldn't allow him to state his case for he would have easily won. He had more honour in his big toe than Bond and Mfume combined.

"lucre-chasing mountebanks like the afore-mentioned scalawags"
Good thing you didn't call them scurrilous blackguards; that would have opened you up to the ignorant who consider "niggardly" a racial epithet.

Didn't Mr. Davis hide out and run from fed troops until he was finally caught dressed as a woman? Doesn't sound very honorable to me.

All Confederate rebels, from Jefferson Davis on down, were just as guilty as John Brown, whom the state of Virginia hanged for treason.

Oh, I never thought blacks couldn't be as hypocrital as whites. And black liberals are as reprehensible as white liberals. They're all pukes.

The more Bond and Mfume open their traps the more they polarize race relations and marginalize their cause in the process.
I hope someday America can rid itself of these types of racist crybabies.

"Jefferson Davis was no war criminal..."
Yes, agreed, this caught my mind too amid all the talk of the idiotic remarks of Mr. Bond. My goodness, Jefferson Davis wasn't even a warrior, he was the President of the Confederacy, so what Bond is saying is that anyone who supports a cause he disagrees with is a war criminal.
The man is an ignoramus, and if he were white he'd be relegated to annoying his children and boring his wife with his rants, he'd not get 5 minutes on the public stage.

I think that Julian Bond is trying to set a precedent, however foolish, that President Bush could be tagged with the same accusation... Just watch.

Jefferson Davis claimed to be Commander-in-Chief of an armed band of insurgents in the southern United States during the 1860s known as "the Confederate Army", making him very much a warrior. He, along with every other rebel, was a traitor, but there's no basis for calling him a war criminal, except perhaps for his allowing U.S. Army prisoenrs to starve at Andersonville, and that was never adjudicated.

Ishmael Reed and a group of mostly Blacks were on cspan2 "Harlem Book Fair" and they mentioned Julian Bond and referred to our current government as close to "Nazism and White Supremacy" (applause, applause)One white male was on the panel and mentioned a racial slur that had been directed at Condi Rice (no one responded)
The group talked about how they can gain power by getting all registered and voting.
One member of the panel mentioned that Asian-Americans have more spousal abuse than Blacks.

One member of the panel mentioned that Asian-Americans have more spousal abuse than Blacks. Maybe they have more spouses. I'd bet violence against black women by black men is quite a bit higher than it is for Asian women by Asians.
