All Time Favorite Conservative Songs!

Posted on 07/18/2003 11:20:57 AM PDT by ConservativeMan55

I decided to find some great Conservative songs. Please list your favorites that I haven't mentioned. I am sure there are a ton I haven't mentioned. I think Darrly Worley has one about a Vietnam POW, and I am sure there are some that are missing so please help me out!

Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)
(Toby Keith)
©2002 Tokeco Tunes (BMI)

This was written a few days after the September 11th terrorist attacks. My father was a soldier in the Army in the ‘50s and always flew a flag to show his patriotism. I had just lost him in a car wreck six months before the attacks took place, so I wrote my feelings down. I never really intended for this to be a song. It was originally titled “Angry American.”

American Girls and American Guys We’ll always stand up and salute We’ll always recognize When we see Old Glory Flying There’s a lot of men dead So we can sleep in peace at night When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army Where he lost his right eye But he flew a flag out in our yard Until the day that he died He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me To grow up and live happy In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love Has fallen under attack A mighty sucker punch came flyin’ in From somewhere in the back Soon as we could see clearly Through our big black eye Man, we lit up your world Like the 4th of July

Hey Uncle Sam Put your name at the top of his list And the Statue of Liberty Started shakin’ her fist And the eagle will fly Man, it’s gonna be hell When you hear Mother Freedom Start ringin’ her bell And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue

Justice will be served And the battle will rage This big dog will fight When you rattle his cage And you’ll be sorry that you messed with The U.S. of A. `Cause we`ll put a boot in your ass It`s the American way

Beer For My Horses
with Willie Nelson (Toby Keith, Scott Emerick) ©2002 Tokeco Tunes (BMI); Sony/ATV Songs LLC dba Tree Publishing Co./Big Yellow Dog Music (BMI) I had this title forever, and when Scott Emerick came up with a neat little melody lick, the two just went hand-in-hand. The song was written prior to September 11th. It’s about justice, but more so about the law of the Old West. It truly depicts how I feel about our justice system today. I had the privilege of having an American icon and hero of mine sing on here with me: Willie Nelson. Awesome.

Well a man come on the 6 o’clock news Said somebody’s been shot, somebody’s been abused Somebody blew up a building Somebody stole a car Somebody got away Somebody didn’t get too far yeah They didn’t get too far

Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son A man had to answer for the wicked that he done Take all the rope in Texas Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys Hang them high in the street for all the people to see that

Chorus:

Justice is the one thing you should always find You got to saddle up your boys You got to draw a hard line When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune We’ll all meet back at the local saloon We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds We’ve got too much corruption, too much crime in the streets It’s time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground Send ’em all to their maker and he’ll settle ’em down You can bet he’ll set ’em down ’cause

Chorus (x2)

It`s All Good
(Toby Keith, Scott Emerick) ©2002 Tokeco Tunes (BMI); Sony/ATV Songs LLC dba Tree Publishing Co./Big Yellow Dog Music (BMI)

Sometimes I draw inspiration from current events. This is one of those times. I felt like writing this song with a “good mood” approach during very blue times. No matter how bad it may appear to be in this country, we still live in the best place in the world. Period. Stream this track in Real Audio Stream this track in Windows Media

Mother earth has changed since I was a child The east is a beast and the west is really wild And the headlines say that the end looks grim And the future don’t look so bright

You can’t even open your mailbox, you can’t take a plane And everybody’s lookin’ for somebody to blame I think I’m gonna let the president Save this ol’ world tonight

It Works For Me
(Toby Keith, Scott Emerick) ©2002 Tokeco Tunes (BMI); Sony/ATV Songs LLC dba Tree Publishing Co./Big Yellow Dog Music (BMI) This is what happens when you mix great melody with great content. It’s not completely autobiographical now, but really closer to me as a 20-year-old. I still carry most of these true colors with me. Stream this track in Real Audio Stream this track in Windows Media

Never owned a brand new car Never worked in a white collar Never held a woman longer Than I held one single dollar I never went out chasin’ rainbows ‘Cause there can’t be that much to it Even if I found my pot of gold I know I’d piss right through it

I can’t remember ever wanting For one second of my life Even if I did it cost too much To ever pay the price I don’t dance out on the dark side Ain’t no secrets I have to tell So you don’t have to say a prayer for me I just said one for myself

Chorus: I’m livin’ my life Under my terms I’m callin’ the shots As far as I can see I don’t owe nobody nothin’ I don’t answer to a soul Might not work for you But it works for me

I’ve been bent and bruised and broken And flat busted once or twice I brought most of it upon myself But I never compromised My pride’s too hard to swallow So I’ve chewed a lot of it Mild-mannered and soft-hearted And hard-headed as you get I live out on the backroads Where I walk my country mile And if it’s so good in the city Why don’t anybody smile? The traffic’s always heavy And the air ain’t fit to breathe I ain’t saying that it’s wrong for you It just don’t make sense to me

Chorus

HANK WILLIAMS JR
Mr. Lincoln
by Hank Williams Jr. transcribed by Clay Logan

Chorus:

Mr. Lincoln I wish you were here The Republics changed alot in a hundred years I don't think its working like you planned Mr Lincoln we sure could use a hand

Verse:

I just read the headlines in the Nashville News And I wish i made this up but im afraid its true Cause a man was murdered for his money in the street

He was takin his wife to a nice place to eat When they caught the man he did 23 months of time He plead insanity like they do now all the time Sir what would you have done in 1859

Now if you shoot someone sir you can get off scott free its the latest thing mr Lincoln can you believe Now they sue the manufactures of the guns aint the law changed alot since 1861

Repeat chorus I just heard the new story on the radio they let dangerous men outta prison now yes sir im afraid its so cause theyre overcrowded and it was only his fifth offense and this time hes killed someone does that make any sense Now my lawyer called me about a nuisance case Cause everybody sues over any little thing these days

Well at least we're right all we gotta do is tell the truth.... he said youre living in the past you romantic fool i said you got that right i lean toward the older ways And theres damn few back woods lawyers left today

repeat chorus 2x

* Song: The Coalition to Ban Coalitions
* Artist: Hank Williams, Jr.

* Album: The Pressure is On (WEA / Atlantic, 1987)

The all-time best liberty song, containing the clearest libertarian sentiment, comes from country legend Hank Williams, Jr. If you hear it, you'll want to nominate it for Official Theme Song of the Libertarian Party.

I'll let the lyrics speak for themselves: "This is the coalition to ban coalitions / I'm not a politician, but I've got views / some folks want to ban cars, some want to get rid of Fender guitars / hey, you do your thing and we'll do our thing, too

...now they want to take my cigarettes and all my good whiskey / and these damn coalitions they are after you and me / they want to get rid of my .44s and all the R-rated films / if they only knew how much we'd all love to get rid of them." Somebody ought to approach Hank about joining the party.

* Song: God Bless The USA
* Artist: Lee Greenwood * Album: American Patriot (EMD / Capitol, 1992) I know this was George Bush's unofficial anthem during his second run for office, but it's a moving song --

Greenwood sings: "If tomorrow all the things were gone / I'd worked for all my life / And I had to start again / with just my children and my wife / I'd thank my lucky stars / to be living here today / 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom / and they can't take that away / I'm proud to be an American / where at least I know I'm free..."

Darryl Worley
Have you forgotten?
I hear people saying we don't need this war I say there's some things worth fighting for What about our freedom and this piece of ground? We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in Before you start preaching Let me ask you this my friend

CHORUS 1 Have you forgotten how it felt that day To see your homeland under fire And her people blown away? Have you forgotten when those towers fell? We had neighbors still inside Going through a living hell And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden Have you forgotten?

HANK WILLIAMS. "Country Boy Can Survive"
The preacher man say's it's the end of time The Mississippi river, she's going dry The interest is up, and the stock market's down You only get mugged if you go down town I live back in the woods you see, My woman, my kids, and my dogs, and me

I got a shotgun, and a rifle, and a 4 wheel drive A Country boy can survive And a Country boy can survive See, i can plow a field all day long I can catch catfish, from dusk till dawn We make our own whisky, and our own smoke too Aint too many things these ole boys cant do, no We grow good ole tomatoes, make homemade wine

A Country boy can survive And a Country boy can survive Cause you cant starve us out, cant make us run Were the boys and girls raised with shotguns

We say grace, and we say Mam If you aint into that, we don't give a damn

IRAQ and I ROLL.
Clint Black
You can wave your signs and protest

against America taking a stand,

the stands America's taking

are the reason that you can.

If everyone would go for peace

there'd be no need for war.

But we can't ignore the devil,

he'll keep coming back for more.

Some see this in black and white,

others only gray.

We're not begging for a fight,

no matter what they say.

We have the resolution

that should put 'em all to shame.

It's a different kind of deadline

when I'm called in the game.

Iraq, I rack 'em up and I roll,

I'm back and I'm a hi-tech GI Joe.

I pray for peace, prepare for war

and I never will forget ~

there's no price too high for freedom

so be careful where you tread.

This terror isn't man to man,

they can be no more than cowards.

If they won't show us their weapons

we might have to show them ours.

Now it might be a smart bomb,

they find stupid people too.

If you stand with the likes of Saddam,

well, one might just find you.

Iraq, I rack 'em up and I roll,

I'm back and I'm a hi-tech GI Joe.

I got infrared, I got GPS,

I got that good old fashioned lead.

No price too high for freedom,

so be careful where you tread.

Now you can come along

or you can stay behind

or you can get out of the way.

But our troops take out the garbage

for the good old USA.

Iraq, I rack 'em up and I roll.

for the USA.

Charlie Daniels
The Last Fallen Hero.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Last Fallen Hero"

Oh the cowards came by morning and attacked without a warning Leaving flames and death and chaos in our streets In the middle of this fiery hell brave heroes fell

In the skies of Pennsylvania on a plane bound for destruction With the devil and his angels at the wheel They never reached their target on the ground Brave heroes brought it down

Chorus: This is a righteous cause so without doubt or pause I will do what my country asks of me Make any sacrifice We’ll pay whatever price So the children of tomorrow can be free Lead on red, white and blue And we will follow you until we win the final victory God help us do our best we will not slack or rest Till the last fallen hero rests in peace

Battle Hymn of the Republic
Julia Ward Howe

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel:
"As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on."

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat:
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me:
As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have that album, and a "new" 1980's vintage turntable that's never spun. I should MP3 it.

You sir, are correct. (I couldn't remember all the words to that verse).

By the by, one line I've always liked is from 'Rock N Roll Never Forgets'...."All Chuck's children, are out there playin' his licks.."

HE is the real king of rock n roll!

This is one that a niece of mine played for me once (years ago). It just stuck with me for some reason:

"America"
by Prince

Aristocrats on a mountain climb,
Making money, losing time.
Communism is just a word,
But if the government turn over
It'll be the only word that's heard.

America, America
God shed His grace on thee
America, America
Keep the children free

Little sister making minimum wage
Living in a 1-room jungle monkey cage.
Can't get over, she's almost dead.
She may not be in the black,
But she's happy she ain't in the red.

America, America
God shed His grace on thee
America, America
Keep the children free

Freedom...Love...Joy...Peace

Jimmy Nothing never went to school.
They made him pledge allegiance,
He said it wasn't cool.
Nothing made Jimmy proud.
Now Jimmy lives on a mushroom cloud.

America, America
God shed His grace on thee
America, America
Keep the children free

"Living in America"
by James Brown

Yeah, uh! Get up, now! Ow! Knock out this!

Super highways, coast to coast,
easy to get anywhere
On the transcontinental overload,
just slide behind the wheel
How does it feel

When there's no destination - that's too far
And somewhere on the way,
you might find out who you are

Chorus:
Living in America - eye to eye, station to station
Living in America - hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America - got to have a celebration

Rock my soul

Smokestack, fatback,
many miles of railroad track
All night radio, keep on runnin'
through your rock 'n' roll soul
All night diners keep you awake,
hey, on black coffee and a hard roll

You might have to walk the fine line,
you might take the hard line
But everybody's working overtime

(chorus)

I live in America, help me out,
but I live in America,
wait a minute

You might not be looking for the promised land,
but you might find it anyway
Under one of those old familiar names
Like New Orleans (New Orleans),
Detroit City (Detroit City), Dallas (Dallas)
Pittsburg P.A. (Pittsburg P.A.),
New York City (New York City)
Kansas City (Kansas City),
Atlanta (Atlanta), Chicago and L.A.

Living in America - hit me
Living in America - yeah,
I walk in and out
Living in America

I live in America - state lines,
gonna make the prime, that
I live in America - hey,
I know what it means, I

Living in America - Eddie Murphy, eat your heart out
Living in America - hit me, I said now, eye to eye,
station to station
Living in America - so nice, with your bare self
Living in America - I feel good!

Being A Celebrity...by Brad Paisely.

Someday I'm gonna be famous, Do I have talent, well, no. These days you don't really need it, Thanks to reality shows

Can't Wait to date a supermodel, Can't Wait to sue my dad. Can't wait to wreck a Ferrari On my way to rehab....

Chorus- Cause when you're a Celebrity It's adios reality You' can act just like a fool People think you're cool Just cause your on TV. I can throw major fits When my latte isn't just how I like it They say I've gone insane, I'll blame it on the fame, And the pressures that it goes with Being a Celebrity uh huh

I get to cry to Barbara Walters, When Things don't go my way. I'll get community service No matter which law I break

I'll make the supermarket tabloids, They'll write some awful stuff But the more they run my name down, THE MORE MY PRICE GOES UP!

Chorus- Cause when you're a Celebrity, It's adios reality. No matter what you do, People think you're cool, Just cause you're on TV. I can fall in and out of love, Have marriages that barely last a month. When they go down the drain I'll blame it on fame And say it's just so tough. Being a Celebrity

So let's hitch up the wagons and head out west To the land of fun in the sun We'll be real world bachelors Jackass Millionaires Hey, Hey, Hollywood Here we come!

Chorus- Yeah, When you're a Celebrity It's adios reality No matter what you do, People think you're cool, Just cause you're on t.v. ...Being a Celebrity ...Yeah Celebrity! ...uh-huh "Where's my coffee?"

Only In America Lyrics
Brooks & Dunn
Only In America
Sun coming’ up over New York City
School bus driver in a traffic jam
Staring out at the faces in a rear view mirror
Lookin’ at the promise of the Promised Land

One kid dreams of fame and fortune
One kid helps pay the rent
One could end up going to prison
One just might be president

Only in America
Dreamin' in red white and blue
Only in America
Where we dream as big as we want to

We all get a chance
Everybody gets to dance
Only in America

Sun goin' down on an LA freeway
Newly weds in the back of a limosine
A welder’s son and a banker’s daughter
All they want is every thing

She came out here to be an actress
He was a singer in a band
They might just go back to Oklahoma
And talk about the stars they could have been

Only in America
Dreamin’ in red white and blue
Only in America
Where we dream as big as we want to

We all get a chance
Everybody gets to dance
Only in America

Only in America
Where we dream in red white and blue
Only in America
Where we dream as big as we want to

We all get a chance
Everybody gets to dance
Only in America

Yeah Only in America

Only in America

Where we dream in red white and blue
Yeah we dream as big as we want to

Only in America
