A group of American makers of wood bedroom furniture is preparing to seek protection from the U.S. government to stem a surge of imports from China that the companies say has ravaged their industry.

John Bassett, president and chief executive of Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Co., Galax, Va., and a spokesman for the group of 14 furniture makers, said the American Furniture Manufacturers Committee for Legal Trade intends to file an antidumping petition this fall with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

Now as to religion if you have a need to know it so happens I do believe in Jesus Christ as my savior but that has very little to do with this thread

It has everything to do with how people treat each other. The idea that people in one geographic location are to be excluded from the fruits of trade in order to benefit a different group of people is immoral. Jesus never told us to love some neighbors more than others. The least he said deserved as much love as the most.

except as it applies to support of policies that are antithetical to very Christian value. If you believe in supoporting the People's Republic of China then you are supporting the polices of that regime.

You keep making the false claim that I support the government of China because I believe in free trade and that is disingenious at best.

I see. You claim to be a Christian and you state you would do "nothing" with these displaced workers. Does that mean you would do "nothing" for them as well? No charity, no helping hand? No prayers, no concern? Jesus save this country from "Christians" like you!

Haha. You read a lot into that "nothing".

That's because you can't say there's free trade is being practiced if China is refusing their end of the "trade" anymore than a hooker giving it away for free is practicing marriage.

Haha. I think I read you pretty right, Texas_Dawg. BTW, still waiting for you to tell us whether you believe your job is safe from outsourcing. I notice you also have no answers as to what these unemployed Americans are going to do. You certainly are representative of the "free traitor" bunch.

It is not the people that are exccluded from the fruits of trade by the tariffs mentioned because in the People's Republic of China the people are already excluded from the benefits of Free Trade as sits now rather it is the governemnt the ruling regime that is using these profits to perpetuate itself and seek dominanvce over others. I honestly think you need to really look at the government you support by your opposition to reasonable action to protect our economy. Further you both had best understand no one in the uSA will be immune from the chaos taht will come if the issue of unemployment and declining standard of lioving in the USA is not addressed.

I find it quite difficult to believe that someone who claims to be a Christian would keep bearing false witness against another.

Since we do not have real free trade due to government interference both American and Chinese governments by supporting what is currtently called free trade you are simply taking sides against the USA and with China. Why can you not see that?

The only false witness taht anyone is bringing against another is you and Texas dawg. if you could for once face the reality of your support for teh PRC maybe we could begin to have a discussion about what is happening in the world but simply stating yourt belief in no taxes and "Free Trade" does not cut in a world where Free trade does not exist.

I never supported whatever is "currently" called free trade and I never said we had it much less them. You lied, again.

Why can you not see that?

I can't see anything past all the lies you have told so far. Hit your knees oh timid Christian.

Please point out one lie or do not accuse me of that. TYou say you support Free Trade and any interference with taht is a restriction on Liberty but you provide no evidence of liberty being restricted. you say trade is between people not governments yet when I point out that in China the people do not benefit just the leaders of the government you ignore it. I defy you to point out a single lie.

In the 1900 John D. Rockefeller gained control of just about the entire oil/gas industry? How did he do it? He would target a region and then in that region he would sell oil/gas at a loss until he had driven all of the locals out of business. Once all competition was eliminated he could raise his prices to whatever the traific would bear and use those profits to target another region of the country.

The greatest economic feature of the USA is the buying power of it's middle class. Capture the USA market for say TV's and you've got a huge source of revenue to support all kinds of things. But the buying power of the American middle class relies on good paying jobs. Good paying jobs ultimately rely on producing wealth. Yea the elites and a few sales men might do OK in a USA that produces no wealth but most of us will be dirt poor.

It is also untrue that our economy was built on free trade. It was not, our wealth was build behind walls of tariffs. (In fact tariffs are the constitutional means for the federal government to raise funds, not income taxes.) It was tariffs that protected our market from foreign takeover. And it was unions that fought for a decent wage for the working man. Both unions and tariffs together build the America that you are now selling out.

Greed is a terrible thing, you are so selfish that you support and argue in favor of slave labor just to save a couple of bucks on a toaster. You are blind to your neighbor losing his job, his home, his life just so long as you can get it cheap from China. You are an excellent example of the decline of character in the new America. Happily I am an old American and I still remember what this country once was, and probably will not live to see the disgrace you and your will bring to her.

Go buy a few pre 1967 history books and read about the struggles of the emerging middle class in the post civil war era. Read about how our industries were really built, the blood, the sweat and tears behind walls of federal protection.

The only difference is what you do and what they do is the cause you want the federal government to steal for. That's it.

That's pretty much what the PLA owned ChiComonopoly.com is doing to us, but rather industry by industry rather than region by region.

The difference is that we are actually giving our tax dollars to our own government in order for Uncle Sam to expidite PLA, Inc. in accomplishing this...this, what does the geriatric red oligarchy call it...? "hegemony".

Personal attack. Lie.

that you support and argue in favor of slave labor

Personal attack, lie.

You are blind to your neighbor losing his job, his home, his life just so long as you can get it cheap from China.

Personal attack. Lie.

You are an excellent example of the decline of character in the new America.

Personal attack.

Happily I am an old American and I still remember what this country once was, and probably will not live.

That's the good thing about you, you will no longer be able to spew lies and hate and advocate force be used to make your situation better.

First a slew of ad hominems, which rule you out as someone to exchange with. Now your true agenda; "Both unions and tariffs together build the America that you are now selling out.

A high tax, low freedom, antifreemarket union thug. And a moral slob. Go to hell.
