Thanks for the ping, Saber. I knew I'd been saving this
article for the future, for some reason.

Thanks for ping. Nice to see a real DNA analysis instead of the histrionics in the newspapers produced by Journalism Major's. Might have to dust off the Genetics text (can I still do simple Mendelian? Have to try...).
FYI, please keep me on your ping list.

The title of this thread is a bit vague. Would there be any objection to amending it to read as follows...
A Family Get-Together of Historic Proportions (Thomas Jefferson & Sally Hemings?)
Such a parenthetical change wouldn't affect FR's title search. What do you think?

What is her point?Reparations?
To: Sabertooth
I have no problem with ammending the title, and I'd like to see this thread get a little more exposure, because I'd really like to hear from some more FR experts on the Sally Hemmings debate.

Thanks very much.

Too bad the scientific evidence doesn't actually prove that Thomas Jefferson sired any children by Sally Hemmings.. Darn! Why do you have to keep injecting reality into all of this?

Its about those jokes.

Great post, Saber. However, the DNA remains inconclusive.

However, the DNA remains inconclusive.
That's why anyone who says Thomas Jefferson slept with Sally Hemings is speaking on the basis of something other than science.
To: Sabertooth
Knowledge? hehehe
To: Sabertooth
More than likely it was Peter Carr. He was living at Monticello at the time and bore a striking resemblance to TJ.

I thought it was a son of Thomas Jefferson who was with Ms. Hemmings.

Some folks suggest that it looks a lot like the Washington Family Crest. By the way, lots of people made flags during that period. I often wonder if Betsy was not just a symbol. I mean, she made one perhaps, but she is the only one mentioned by name.
