As it pertains to 'W', this is a non-story. It was a non-story when Tony Blair defended it. It became even less of a story when Tenet took the hit. I dont think its that much of a story either. However, if W were to follow the advice of those "clintonesque" Freepers that say it was proper to include the claim in the State of Union because the Brits say it was accurate, then he is going to dig a hole for himself. W has already said the statement shouldnt have been in the State of the Union as has Tenet. Why is everyone choosing to refight that battle?

"Notice the Condi bashers here this morning."
Yes, when I heard her speaking fast, I immediately began impeachment proceedings on "W". It is obvious that "W" was lying to cover up his college drinking escapades. Neil Bush is a poltroon and Jeb is secretly in love with El Reno!

The line was included in the speech to gain public support for the invasion. The President said it as if it were the truth...So then the president lied about this? This sounds serious.
Can you document for me how you know that the president thought that this wasn't the truth when he made the SOTU speech?

Bob Graham continues to be one of the biggest liars in politics. He only gets away with it because he looks so stupidly harmless.
He has been shocking to me---maybe because I thought he looked harmless! LOL
As soon as Rumsfeld was done on MTP I switched over to Fox for the rest of the hour.

"But how can you on the one hand say something is true, but on the other hand say it probably shouldn't have been in the State of The Union address?"
What a stupid question ej!! the Bush admin admitted that the sentence in question had not been verified to the extent it should have been to have been included. This is entirely different than saying the sentence is a lie.
You and your other democrat friends need to listen for that popping sound. the sound ur head makes when u pull it out of ur rear end

Our sources were discredited by Sept 2002 which by my count is 3-4 months prior to the State of the Union address. Wrong.
I see you ignored that I informed you that Rice said this very morning (they've said it since Friday, actually) that the U.S. still has information that the uranium story is true.
To: FreeReign
The Brits say it is the truth but won't share their sources. The reason it is said not appropriate for a SOTU address was because our own intelligence could not verify. No one's saying in the administration that it was a lie.The Dems do and the media keeps the drumbeat going.

Bush clearly refered to the Niger info coming from the British in the State of the Union. To refer to the British NOW is not "Clintonesque", it's stating the facts as they were presented from the beginning. So what is your profession, lawyer or used car salesman?

ROFLOL!
Speaking of talking fast, who is the female on Stephie's round table? I have to turn the TV off at that point because the unbalanced gabfest is just too much for me to stomach. But that female spins her lies so fast, I can't always understand her. Also her head is wobbling and weaving and tossing like she's in a blender, and her hands constantly flail the air. Uhhhhh.....how come no one has critiqued HER talking fast??? Just a thought.

Perhaps it is due to the absence of Brit. Where is he hiding lately?

but the British said they have several sources that have proven valid and still stand behind the information provided the president and stated in the state of the union address. Our CIA also has several sources but not enough info to go on the record to verify as the British have done. Tenet refers to "fragments" of information that they have aside from the forged documents.

I'll be so glad when Brit Hume returns from vacation. Maybe he can set them all straight!

W has already said the statement shouldnt have been in the State of the Union as has Tenet. Why is everyone choosing to refight that battle?I, for one, am not arguing for or against the inclusion in the SOTU speech, while saying the statement was and continues to be true.
Having said that, what the argument is is the press saying the statement was "false" or "erroneous".

Chairman Roberts of the Senate Intelligence Committee said the following; "I have seen no documentation that indicates that the CIA had reversed itself after Jan. 17 and prior to the State of the Union," he said. "If the CIA had changed its position, it was incumbent on the director of intelligence to correct the record and bring it to the immediate attention of the president."
Does anybody know what the CIA said on January 17th? According to Roberts, it sounds like the CIA took the official position on the 17th that Iraq WAS trying to get uranium form Africa and then never reversed its position until after the SOTU.
Anybody?

FWIW, the top of the hour news cast(12:00 PM EDT) from ABC radio seemed to be downgrading the "scandal".
They had a couple of quotes from Rumsfeld handing steffie his head on a platter and it seemed the radio reporter wanted to tone down on the "scandal.

According to a freeper account posted yesterday (sorry, I don't recall which thread), they saw Roberts on tv--Fox I believe--state this in that interview.

I wouldn't want to be an American hoping we fail in Iraq. Unfortunately, many do wish for the deaths of our troops. Ellen Ratner almost tripped over her own tongue earlier this week on FNC trying NOT to admit this.

You're #86 is right on. I've noticed a notable and not-too-subtle change in the reporting and remarks of some Fox commentators these past two weeks, including Shep Smith.
