Gephardt: *Lots Of* Intelligence Ties Iraq to Al-Qaeda
Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002; 10:31 a.m. EDT
House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, D-Mo., said Sunday that he*d seen "lots of intelligence" that ties Saddam Hussein*s regime in Baghdad to Osama bin Laden*s al-Qaeda terrorist network. "There*s lots of intelligence and it*s additive as you go along, of meetings between Iraqi military and intelligence officials and members of al-Qaeda," the top House Democrat told ABC*s "This Week." While the Missouri congressman did not detail the Iraqi-al-Qaeda contacts further, he apparently got the information in briefings to Congress by Bush administration intelligence officials over the last several weeks. Though Gephardt sounded convinced of the Iraq-al-Qaeda terror links...

House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, D-Mo., said Sunday that he*d seen "lots of intelligence" that ties Saddam Hussein*s regime in Baghdad to Osama bin Laden*s al-Qaeda terrorist network. Wouldn't talking like that be considered liberal blasphamy? Political correctness condems the truth. The liberal trial lawyers will have him before the facist judge in no time demanding his thoughts be reprogrammed!

Something is really weird here... The fact that Dickie Gep is breaking ranks with his party is strange enough, but he announces this on ABC? Must be a full moon.

Somebody in that group of contenders has to make a play for the moderate Democrats. Maybe Gephardt has had enough polling done to find out that even though Dean appeals to a particularly activist, vociferous block of liberals, Dean is not making any headway with the moderates.

You are right, or course. Everything the Dick does is calculated for political purposes. He's got presidential aspirations alright. Will be fun to watch his party's own junk yard leftists rip him to shreds for sounding too centrist and concerned about terrorism.

I suspect that he knows the truth and is preparing for the steam roller that is getting ready to roll over the leftist candidates. Little Dicky is playing the odds that Bush is smarter than the left thinks.

The fact that Dickie Gep is breaking ranks with his party is strange enough This is dated material, long before Bush "misled" the American public. Who knows Gephardt now may wonder if "that" evidence was "ALTERED." Blah, Blah, Blah ..... You know the story.

Well, the moon looked quite full to me last night, so that's probably it. Seriously, this smells of hind-covering with a dash of triangulation on Little Dick's part. Remember that the other 8 RATs have all staked out the "there's no way that the Operation Iraqi Freedom was legitimate and detracts from the War on Terror" position, and it sure looks like that's falling apart.

Check the date.

Check the date. Give me another Dew (no LiveWire or Code Red, please). It sounds like Little Dick's about to have to choose between remembering his words of 2002 or eating his words of 2003.

He'll choose to forget what he said last year, and he'll deny what he said this year.
Mr 'I have no eyebrows' will never admit anything like that came out of his mouth. And if he feels it's expedient, he'll attempt to flame and blast W any way he can.

Gephardt has supported the President on the Iraq war from the beginning and he has NOT backed away as far as I can find.

He seems to have backed off of the Iraq-Al Qeada thing.
At least, that can be inferred from his words.
The official Democrat line at the moment is that there is no credible link between the two.
