Operation Infinite FReep: Richmond, VA, WIB After-Action Report

Driving down Boulevard to Broad, I caught a glimpse of some action at the abortion mill across the street from the starting point of the WIB (Women in Black) march and was tempted to stop and lend a hand but continued on.

I parked the FReepmobile in the Subway parking lot next to the sidewalk on Broad St., hung a flag and poster on the side and took up my position on the corner. At 9 AM there wasn't a lot of traffic at first but the weather was fine and for once the wind wasn't blowing hard. After handing out a few dollars to sidewalk residents, I got settled in.

The double sided sign on a tall pole had a thank you to our armed forces on one side and a new sign on the back that said, "LISTEN UP CNN, AMERICA'S MILITARY ARE THE GOOD GUYS" (inspired by a Missouri FReeper sign). I did a lot of waving and got a lot of waves back. The only negative response was from someone who called me a Right-Wing Nut. I can live with that.

As the WIB's approached the intersection, a man drove by and said the WIB's numbers had gotten smaller (there were 10). whipping out a special sign for them, "ST. JOAN OF ARC, LED MEN BY INSPIRATION, NOT FEMINIZATION" they couldn't help but read it as they passed by. I really enjoyed that part.

An even greater pleasure was having a driver pull up and say, "You must be a FReeper." It was a Free Republic lurker, now registered, kch01 and his adorable son. Welcome to the sane world, kch01, at Free Republic. FReeping is addictive, though, so watch out! Hope to see you again soon.

A car drove by twice, covered with magnetic flag signs and had at least four window flags snapping in the wind. Although I waved, I couldn't get the driver's attention and thought if he wasn't a FReeper, he should be!

Several driver's indicated they were Veterans. As people drove by I thought of all the men & women still in harm's way, the ones who would come home wounded and the one's who wouldn't come home alive. Their families pray for them and I hope they know America prays for them also.

About 11 AM, I packed up, entered the Subway and ordered a tuna sandwich from Habib. Ya just gotta love America!
