Huge Weapons Shipment Seized At Port

PORTLAND - Federal officials announced late Wednesday the seizure of possibly the largest shipment of weapons ever found in the northwest from Terminal Six at the Port of Portland. Officials with the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and extension of the Department of Homeland Security said inspectors seized more than 700 handguns, 900 magazines, and 450 shotguns from a container at the port on June 28.

The CBP said the shipment was bound for Central America, and originated in the People's Republic of China. Authorities say they learned of the shipment before it even arrived at the port. Officials said the seizure did not come as part of the federal investigation of arms shipments to Iran.

CBP officials plan to discuss what they found and how the shipment was tracked down at an afternoon press conference at the port.

Shotguns and pistols are quite useful in when one is fighting in jungles. Lots of jungles (or rain forests) in Central and South America.

why would the chi coms go through Portland to smuggle such a "HUGE" (zzzzzzz)
amount of small arms to Central America
When they effectively own Panama and the Bahamas have friends in low places like Venzuala Cuba Brazil Columbia etc etc etc

Perhaps the "chi coms" wanted to be sure someone "special" in the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) got credit and a promotion that would make "him" more useful for larger more critically important shipments in the future. Hmmm.

ABC radio news just reported that the contents of the shipping container containing the guns were labeled as "Rainbow Trout".

Not necessarily. The thieves have been identified in the article as "US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP)". Identifying the crooks is half the battle.

The Cubans did that on behalf of the spy Elena Montes - who was arrested just days after 911 as she was phoning home to Havana.

Seems she made great gains when she very conveniently bagged some interviews of Cuban generals during a trip to Cuba; made her look very good and so she ended up in a position to write assessments of Cuba's military which downplayed their capabilities and reach. No one thought to ask, I suppose, how she was able to swing chances to talk to Cuban brass.

Big deal.

When they start finding these:

Or these:

Or these:

Then these stories will be worth reading.
