I spend a lot of the summer in Avalon and Stone Harbor. Pray tell what beach you are talking about?

Not that there's anything wrong with that . . . it's my summer/fall diet plan. 14 hours in 100-degree heat and 95% humidity will burn those inches off better than liposuction.

Crappy food, 120 degree summer days. Monsoon season. Tarantulas, scorpions, rattle snakes, black widows. No beaches. Yep, Arizon rules.

I think that's a bit unfair to our Zonie brethren. That said I was in Tempe last year and visited their main strip. The bar scene was okay but every single restaurant was a major chain....it was disappointing.

Actually Phoenix has Scottsdale, but Philadelphia has Chadds Ford, Bala Cynwd, Villanova, West Chester, Newtown Square, Chestnut Hill, Whitemarsh and a host of other beautiful suburban areas that are more beautiful than Scotsdale (old money, you know). What Philadelphia does not have is Camden, that's in New Jersey on the other side of the river.

I forgot to mention that WC Fields main complaint about Phila. was their Blue Laws, which thankfully, no longer exist, although the State liquor stores remain.

Camden is getting better slowly. I am an Architect and we have worked on a number of renovation projects that the state and city are supporting strongly around town. I just hope that they don't lose interest and let it continue to slide back down. The biggest problem will be for Camden to overcome its reputation as a crime plagued city. The waterfront is the first part of its hopefully improved future.

I have crossed the Ben Franklin several times on visits back to the area and was really surprised at the changes that I saw.

My mother actually graduated from Camden High School, about 1930. It wasn't such a bad place then. My grandfather worked for RCA and my mother and all my aunts worked for Campbell Soup. They all used public transportation and thought it was great.

Camden started out as an amusement park and recreational place to be in close proximity to Philly, not sure what year. I believe they are trying to recapture that again. Both Philly and Camden putting in an Air Tram right now that will connect Penns landing with the Camden Waterfront.

I prefer 85 in summers with no humidity, and 75 in winter, with no snow. LOL!

I like picking fresh Oranges and Avocados off my trees in the *summer*, and *winter*, lol, Of course that's just me, and that's why I live in California.....Hehehe..Sorry to rub it in.......

There are probably 10 times more weapons in Cal, than yes, even Texas.. Taxes, well yeah, they are high, but we are working on it, starting at the top....Texas currently does have a few more freedoms, and less taxes, but I wouldn't trade places with you for anything. Just spoiled I guess.....I'll just just fight it out here and enjoy things while I'm at it.

80 deg in Filly @ 90% Humidididity = Hell (sweat and mosquitoes....yuchhhh)
107.8 deg (currently) @ 16% = Mahvelous. It really is a dry heat. Love it.

But.....sssshhhhhhhhh...don't tell a soul!

Never been to Cali. would like to visit there sometime. But I couldn't live there, personally. Cali. has too many natural disasters for me. The worst thing that has happened here in Philly, in a long time, was a 30" snow storm, but that is very rare.

You are right. Hate to say it but I have lived in Iowa, Florida (worst beef in the world), California, and NY. NY has the best food overall but NO good Sonoran style Mex.
