July 9th is National Firearm Purchase Day
Posted on 07/09/2003 8:14:44 AM PDT by ArmUSAAnaheimKalifornia
It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!
It's July 9th and once again we celebrate National Firearm Purchase Day!! This is our way of protesting the UN's policy of gun destruction.
So get on down to your local gun store and buy that gun you've been wanting. If they don't know about National Firearm Purchase Day, let them know! Heck, maybe we can even get July 9th recognized as a National Holiday! (YEAH RIGHT!!!)
At ARM USA, we're giving away these REALLY COOL NFPD t-shirts with every firearm purchase for the week of July 8-12!!
Thanks for your support in the past - hope to see you at ARM USA!!!

I've been going to Texas Shooters Range in Houston. Real nice people, low range fees, and competitive prices on ammo.

I think that you'll find that the .40S&W is a better load, not to mention the fact that ALL manufacturers make pistols chambered for .40S&W!

I own a Colt Python in blue w/ 6 inch bbl. Its amazingly accurate and more plesent to shoot than a .44. I also own 9 mm and .40 Glocks, plus a half dozen other Smiths in .22 and .38 which are good shooters.
My concern about the .357 Sig is availability of ammo. I had been concerned about this with the .40 when I first got it, but with its overwhelming acceptance, I don't think this should be a problem.

Today is my birthday! Seeing as how I'm young and broke, any of you rich FReepers feel like donating a gun to a fellow FReeper, I've had my eye on an
Olympic Arms PCR AR-15 style carbine.
*wink, wink*

357 SIG ammo is becoming widely available, but it always seems to cost a lot. I haven't seen any cheap deals on it. On the other hand, if you shoot 9mm or 40 you can get truckloads of ammo dirt cheap. That settled it for me.

1) Does an air rifle count? (kids, you know...)
2) Does a Holosight count? (old age, you know...)

I'm sure someone must know what the .357 Sig's advantages are...

If I remember correctly, wasn't the origination of this "holiday" conceived right here on FR a couple of years ago to coincide with a UN conference on small arms (or something like that)?

I agree with you re: a revolver vs. a semi-auto pistol. My "go-to" gun for home defense is a 7" stainless steel Taurus/Rossi in .357 magnum. That, along with my Mossberg 500 12-gauge pump should handle most eventualities in the home.

I have 3 years left before i can get a handgun.
What are some good shotguns/rifles?

Dang! This really hurts! I reeeally want a .40 Glock. But my wife says we need new window treatments. *heavy sigh*

Have you got a British Webley .455 revolver available?
That's what I'm looking for, presently. Modified cylinder to use .45 ACP is acceptable.
To: ArmUSAAnaheimKalifornia
I like the concept, but unless one enjoys dealing with crowds in gun shops, this is perhaps the worst day of the year to by firearms.
