It was what it was and nobody could deny it. But for some reason, people still pay Ann Coulter to go on the air and are able to say with a straight face that it's part of the fair play of ideas. A genuine standard of community decency should object to her claims of treason as strongly as it does to lap dancing.... So when people stop buying Dixie Chicks records and a Bull Durham screening is cancelled it's a "chill wind blowing". But it's fine for liberals to demand Ann Coulter be banned for claiming treason on the part of liberals.
Of course anyone called a traitor by Ann could always take her to court for slander and libel. But then they would have to prove they aren't.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh ... and there's the rub. LOL

Horrible LA Times article wasn't it? If one didn't know, a person would think Ann Coulter bashes gays and does not lay out a factual case for her position. Every liberal in the country is going to be quoting those articles by Horowitz, Rabinowitz and Sullivan attacking Coulter.
Sure she expected this though. Bet Kristol is the next to take her on.

When I don't have time to read the whole article I ping myself so I don't have to try and search for the article later. After I have had a chance to read it I ping it to anyone I think would be interested.
It seems some are concerned with me pinging myself. Maybe I will use "read later". :)

Here is an example for you. Morton Halperin was appointed to work for Les Aspin at the Pentegon. Former head of the ACLU and son of Communists. He advised Aspin not to send tanks to Somalia.
After that debacle he was transferred to the State Dept. He had the laptop with the secure information on it "stolen". Never found, never investigated.
Fat A** bag of suet Madeline Albright had audio bugs planted in secure conference rooms at State and found them by accident. Her response at a subsequent press conference was to ask any spies to raise their hands.
Good enough?

Oh yes, that makes sense, just another way to 'bump' a post(Sometimes people do the same by typing 'bump' in the reply, a habit that goes way back towards the start of Free Republic, IIRC). Sorry for the interruption, I thought perhaps you had meant to ping someone else but accidently put your name instead of that person's in the 'to' box(I've accidently done that before!)
Anyway, have a good morning!

How pleasant... a thoughtful person with such nice manners.
Thanks. :)

I didn't tell the tale for sympathy. Life worked out the way it was supposed to for my husband, I am sure of it. And who knows, we may never have met if it were otherwise. Just a peripheral story to the big one we're discussing!

I'm talking about the period I knew him, from when he was 82-86. Believe me, he was harmless. Before then, not much, just a lot of talk. He really believed that crap. It was funny, and sad.

Uncle Bob was a citizen from a very young age. He and his brother (my husband's father), came to America at very young ages and made successful lives in the meat and food industry. He was the only member who was so fierce about Communism. Not my husbands parents. But they didn't abandon him, even though it hurt all around them.

Ann Coulter is everything any liberal female, or male, will never be:
intelligent, diligent, honest & not worried about what others may think, or feel, when she tells the unambiguous 'n undeniable truth.

Thanks for your reply. I laid awake last night thinking about your original post and suddenly I remembered the supreme, all encompassing aviation-related factory "Consolidated," which (I think) later became Convair, which became General Dynamics.
A group of us from our Kindergarten days have maintained our friendship throughout the last half century. (Wow I'm making myself sound ancient.;-). When we last got together, Benny told us how appreciative and grateful he'd been all these years for the kindness we'd shown him when we were all little kids. To a person, we were all perplexed. Then Benny dropped the bomb: the reason we were never permitted to play at his house.... his parents were Communists!
His parents were afraid of us! They figured we'd discover their Commie ties, and drop our pursuit of "hunting" Adolph Hitler, in favor of tracking real, live Communists!

I know a FReeper who probably has this tattooed on his butt. Just that comment or the complete text of her book?
