When I don't have time to read the whole article I ping myself so I don't have to try and search for the article later. After I have had a chance to read it I ping it to anyone I think would be interested.

It seems some are concerned with me pinging myself. Maybe I will use "read later". :)

Oh yes, that makes sense, just another way to 'bump' a post(Sometimes people do the same by typing 'bump' in the reply, a habit that goes way back towards the start of Free Republic, IIRC). Sorry for the interruption, I thought perhaps you had meant to ping someone else but accidently put your name instead of that person's in the 'to' box(I've accidently done that before!)
