Viacom has shelved plans to launch Outlet, a 24-hour cable channel aimed at gays, according to the Gay.com/PlanetOut.com Network, an online news service operated by PlanetOut Partners. It said that it had received a statement from the company saying that "due to the current economic climate, the timetable has slowed down for the development of a new network dedicated to programming to the gay and lesbian audience. We will keep the media informed of new developments." However, the news service pointedly observed that the economic climate did not deter Viacom for buying a controlling stake in Comedy Central from AOL Time Warner for $1.13 billion or from launching Spike TV.

Big Business Targets Gay Customers - purchasing power now surpasses $450 billion/yr
Are they saying that the homosexual community doesn't have the money to make this profitable (or is the above figure a lie)?
Would a homosexual have to really be a "gay males" channel because lebians would not be interested in the same programming (and there are already a number of networks that cater exclusively to a feminine audience)?
Is it because Bravo is increasing the amount of homosexual oriented programming (including reality dating shows) and posed competition?
Maybe Viacom's Spike TV (with its gay Ren and Stimpy) is the only "channel for men" that Viacom really needs.
Looks like there is also a PayPerView channel:

Now, now....you know those on-a-higher-plane-than-heterosexuals lesbos don't engage in such ogling. It is only us ignorant breeders who do such things.

I'm sure we'll all be missing out on some probing documentaries and a few puff pieces...

From what I see while channel-surfing, homosexual-themed programming is cropping up all over.

And the show where the gay guys hit on the striaght one for money..

"A Gay Channel? I'm freeee!"

It was purely a mechanical problem. They couldn't find a cable to connect a male plug to a male plug...

Heck, PBS's P.O.V. is 99% devoted to homosexual themes anyway.

Oh bull, Paul, They don't SAY anything directly to you that'd get their membership tossed, but when they stand talking to each other about their girl-girl sex lives while peering at you while you're dressing, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. A woman knows ogling, whether it be from a man or another woman.

Bravo's programming divison is run by the 'alternative lifestyle' crowd..and it appears that they have singlehandedly shelved the Gay Network!

Mayhaps the network has seen the current outrage at the Supreme's decision, and decided this might not be the time to do this show?

LOL! Just think, we were very close to B.S. Plenty (aka Barbra Streisand) coming out of retirement.
