It's pretty sad when someone who considers herself fairly conservative and someone else on CNN comes to the same conclusion, isn't it? Yep. Personally, I don't see where Savage did anything wrong. Millions of folks in this nation feel the same way, but fear oppressive litigation, and are afraid to speak. I'd praise Savage for his bravery.
Sticks, stones, and hate speach legislation will break my bones, but names and faces will never hurt me.

And whatever you think of the merits of Maher's ramblings, he wasn't let go for the comment, but for the resulting plummetting ratings.
Whether people agree with you or not, they are free to vote with the clicker, and the audience was pretty tiny to begin with.

Wow. A liberal comentator on CNN just said the same thing. Looks like you've joined them, aye? Someone on CNN just called Michael Savage a neanderthal? Isn't that an insult? You mean that commentators can use insulting language on the air?
Is it the nature of the insults that determines who can stay or be canned?

Exactly.
I was using sarcasm to point that out to the one who was questioning the meaning of "to know" and saying he didn't understand how that meant "to have sexual relations with".

Sorry, doll, I don't "have to turn him off", I don't find anything he says, or his delivery, "odious". Well, clearly (see your choice of salutation to the poster) you are cut from the same cloth as Savage in your way of expressing yourself. That's fine, but don't be surprised that many people may be put off by it.
To: MinuteGal
It was only a matter of time till Savage shot himself in the foot. Good riddance. He's an embarrassment to the conservative cause and leaves us wide open to blanket criticism, undeserved or not.Agreed. The man is a marooon. I don't particularly care about his stupid response to some inane caller. But he is an egomaniacal nut case and, to the extent he is able to characterize himself as a conservative, he reflects pretty badly on the rest of us.
To: 666beast
here's a great article for the cowardly conservatives who won't support their own. i think the sissy-wimps need to read this and reflect about how this nation is just being steam-rolled by liberalism because of their weakness. I was done listening to savage until i heard these recent events. now, i support him even more.
Oh, you support him even more, you moron. You pathetic idiot. You jerk. Why don't you catch West Nile Virus and die you checked pant Republican.
Why don't you go out on the golf course and let someone kill you with a golf club. Why don't you just choke to death on one of your own golf balls....
The above makes for lousy TV and even lousier conservatism.....

Oh, I see. So, the left can have Alec Baldwin on Conan O'Brien go on a screaming tirade about stoning Henry Hyde and his family to death...but Savage is out of line.
Al Franken can go on physically aggressive rampages against various conservatives he runs into, and publish and broadcast his vicious lies...but Savage is out of line.
Wow...
To: Cultural Jihad
I don't give a squat if Savage has a TV show or not.
I do hate to see a leftist, PC agenda drive an independent voice off of the airwaves, a voice who is not afraid to speak his mind from the heart.
I agree his rant was over the top, and that MSNBC has every right to fire him just like they finally fired donawho?
The PC agenda and the homo agenda are KILLING our society. This is another symptom of the societal disease known as moral decay, and its enabler, liberalism.

Don't you get it?!. No one has to defend their words in a free country, That is complete and utter nonsense.

We'll all be polite and pretend to be interested in your personal problems.

Huckleberry "This thread is frightening if it's representative of how many whiney, nervous, hand-wringers are out there on "our" side. It's embarrassing, and more than a little pathetic.
Is Savage pathetic?
He just apologized, profusely, for what he said on Saturday.
You're kidding?
Guess Huckleberry must now be really embarrased by Savage.... he'll have to go back to worshipping Fred Phelps.

I Bash whoever deserves it. Are you a Rino? Do you support them? Do you vote for them? gratuitous opportunity ? In the eyes of a rino maybe.
Who is a bigger embarrassment to a Conservative,
Savage, Bush or the "conservative" Supreme Court?
To: Jorge
"Maybe you would be more pleased with me if I shrieked insults at you and said I hoped you die from some horrible disease?" Hey, whatever trips your clip, brother. Go for it. I can take it. Let it fly.
To: All
"The incident that resulted in his firing began innocently enough. Savage was taking viewer phone calls about airline horror stories, and a male caller began talking about smoking in the bathroom.
"Half an hour into the flight, I need to suggest that Don and Mike take your ..." the caller said, before he was cut off and his words became unintelligible."
While I didn't like his response, I have to wonder what the caller said to him, that set him off like it did. I assume they were on a 5 second delay, so Savage heard what the caller said, but we didn't. For all we know, the caller may have deserved a punch in the mouth! Perhaps he was trying to incite Savage, by telling him what he would like to personally do to his son, or mother, or father, in the most vile manner possible. Who knows! But what ever was said, it was enough to make Savage go ballistic, and loose his job, which may have been the callers original intentions in the first place. One thing I know for sure, the caller did not stay on the subject he was put on the air to comment on.
While we all like to think we would have handled it differently, none of us know what was said, or how we would have responded to it. So cut Savage some slack.

Usually I stay away from DU, but after reading part of this thread I went Over there to see their response. Its worse than what Savage said, in fact their saying we (FR) agree with them....Disgusting.

keep 'em coming, brother. us REAL conservatives are used to it. It does not faze us.
your insults are really lame and unoriginal. Please, go the nearest comedy club, hack some material from someone who uses the mind and thinks and come back when you have some better insults because you are not hacking it here on FR.
your post is written spam and should be edited. It's seriously lacking in relevancy and it's just plain boring.
