NEW YORK - MSNBC on Monday fired Michael Savage for anti-gay comments.

The popular radio talk show host who did a weekend TV show for the cable channel referred to an unidentified caller to his show Saturday as a "sodomite" and said he should "get AIDS and die."

I have been on these boards for over a year now and there are a lot of names in this thread that I don't recognize. I hope there are a bunch of Liberal trolls who have come to this page today just to slam Savage.

Maybe it was true in the sense that he really does wish they get AIDS and die. I like Savage's radio program, but I don't agree with everything he says. This is a good example, and I don't blame MSNBC for showing him the door.

Please explain the inherent conservatism in the statement "I hope you get AIDS and die". Or, explain how the belief that the statement "I hope you get AIDS and die" is inappropriate somehow constitutes liberalism or closeted homosexuality.

Savage has always struck me as having the emotional frenzy of a confused liberal. He's an angry little viper.

What a moron and this a week after Disney dumped his radio show. This guy has great timing. He's looking to get himself dumped from every market he's got left on his radio show.

In NYC, the biggest market in the country (ABC), he's been off the air for weeks now. ABC says it's a contract dispute, but I'm not so certain.

I've never liked this guy to begin with, though I agree with most of his politics, I've always said he's the political equivalent of Howard Stern- a political shock jock. Nasty, arrogant, funny and hysterical at times, but you tire of his constant self-promotion.

They did not tolerate the sodomites back in their day, so why the hell are you? This is a conservative forum. The conservatives I am(or used to be) familiar with are guided by the good book. So why do accept homosexuality? Or are you just pretending to be religiously pricipled?

Nice. Let's all go back to the days when a bunch of good ole' boys could get together and go have a rip-rouring time beating some queers. Yup, that's what conservatism should stand for. </sarcasm

I have no love for homosexuals, but I have no problems with them living their lives in peace. I don't think anyone on this forum "accepts" homosexuality. They just tolerate it. Big difference.

Savage went too far, pissed of his employer and got fired. End of story. There's no first amendment issue here.

Yeah lady, people who think it's OK for a private company to fire someone who says sodomites should get AIDS and die while broadcasting from their network are obviously homos.

I just happened to see this incident on MSNBC and was shocked. He then proceeded onto another caller who challenged him on the Courts ruling regarding Michigan. The caller said the court had found the 20 point system unconstitutional and Savage went off on him calling him an affirmitive action person since he obviously could not read the ruling. Well I myself was under the impression that the court had in fact ruled against the 20 point system. Savage is not nearly as smart as he wants all to believe. In fact I stopped listening to his radio show and could care less for him. He makes several mistakes with bad arguments and lumps them together with a mean persona. The down side of "right wing" radio is that there are some now who have jumped on the gravy train and can't cut the mustard. These subpars could give the right a black eye.

Sometimes Savage is like Don Rickles but he means what he says. He is fun to listen to because he does stuff like this. Savage is like watching wrestling but instead of being fake he is real. That's entertaining!

I had a friend in high school who's dad turned "gay" or "bi-sexual" or some such thing. Long story. Anyway, because of this I met all sorts of queer men. Since my friends sister was a lesbian on top of this weirdness with his dad I met numerous lesbians. None of these people were happy people. Oh, they could "act" happy but not a more wretched group existed. Peel back their exterior a bit and you found people that were self-loathing, unhappy and pissed off at anyone that was not in the same state.

My view is that a lot of queers, gays, homosexuals, fags or whatever you want to call them used to just be silent and self-loathing. Over the past few decades this self-loathing is still there but a good deal of it has been taken out of the closet. And projected into the loud, obnoxious and overbearing demand that the huge balance of society recognize that queer is normal. I don't think this will ever stop. I don't think that that the queer among us will ever wake up some day and say "ok, we are done". It's not their nature.

Nope, the fags will be screaming in our faces for the near forseeable future. But now, due to our Supreme Court, their screams will be louder, more often and all over the place. In a court near you.

I don't think they've ever done one bit that they didn't steal directly from Stern.

That's the truth, but the worst on 106.7 is the Ron and Fez show. Untalented fairies.

If you are a homosexual, you are NOT doomed!

 1 Corinthians 6:9-13
 9.  Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
 10.  nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
 11.  And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
 12.  "Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything.
 13.  "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"--but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

You CAN 'change your mind' about the practices you are involved in.

while the "Sodomite" comment probably didnt help, wishing a horrible death on a listener is not what station managers and more importantly advertisers want associated with their stations or products.

Such comments are part of Savage's "schtick". Like I said, he's said worse on his radio show. What did MSNBC expect. Again, I think that he only got in trouble because he picked on a "politically protected class" of people. If he had told a white male pro-life Christian to go blow himself up in front of an abortion clinic he wouldn't have been fired, he would have probably been awarded an Emmy and his show promoted to a better timeslot on MSNBC.

I don't think many people here are "faggot pandering," as you put it. Maybe they just don't blame MSNBC for making a decision as a private company.
