A Conspiracy So Vast: Meet Ann Coulter, the Maureen Dowd of the conservatives

John G. Adams, a key figure in the proceedings that effectively ended Sen. Joseph McCarthy's career, passed quietly from the scene last week at age 91. Not surprisingly, his death made no news; it's been a while since those heady days when McCarthy launched his investigations of the Army, which had, he charged, been shielding countless Communist agents at Fort Monmouth and elsewhere. It fell to Adams, the Army's chief counsel, to deal with the charges, which he did to devastating effect in the Army-McCarthy hearings that held the nation in thrall in the 1950s.

"I think Coulter isn't really capable of making a long extended argument, when a short, meaty diatribe would suffice."

If you read her book, "Treason" you would know that not only can she do both, she can do them both at the same time! Such talent is not easy to come by.

As for "Witness", I think most people have never heard of Whittaker Chambers. Ann's book introduces the whole Communist infiltration of the US government to a new audience.

You are right to an extent, that she is largely covering ground covered by others. But, I would have you note that her book is not exclusively covering such a limited time span. She links the same liberals, and their heirs in the modern Demoratic Party, with those who continue to this day act in a treasonous way toward our nation, i.e. they engage in behavior which gives aid and comfort to our enemies. That's why you should read the book.

Ann provides a new perspective on the past and present behavior of the liberals and Demorats which is quite damning.

LOL! I keep wondering what that has to do with it as well. As if only a conservative could have compassion on Juanita.

I just read that it was a tank division that was ordered to shoot the Americans who had surrendered, so how do you know that they were laughing. The tank division was followed up by the SS who wandered through the bodies shooting anyone still alive. (This was from the US Army Mortuary Division article) It was stated that the defendents were not the SS.

There seems to be a gaggle of FREEPER Commie apologists, who hate Ann,think that they're better informed ( though, of course, they don't really know much, if anything about this topic ) than everyone else, and/or just like to see their words in print...no matter how stupid it proves them to be.

I can't remember a thread, lately, as full of strawman arguements, meaningless hot air, and assumptions, as the replies, to this thread, by those taking Dorothy's side. LOL

Just goes to show how well the Communists and their liberal sympathizers have done in brainwashing the sheep.

Another interesting fact is that all the death sentences were in fact commuted to either life in prison or shorter sentences, so someone must have agreed with some of what McCarthy claimed.

I think the individual you were responding to was pointing out that even though the Demorats wouldn't accept Joe's witnesses and documentation, the Venona Project, as an independent source, indicates the problem of Communist spies in the federal gov't was much worse than he thought it was. But I could be wrong.

It was a bunch of soft-on-crime liberals who forced this through. Tailgunner Joe merely hopped aboard to appeal to ethnic Germans in Wisonsin (who didn't support Peiper and company in the slightest, so ol' Joe jumped over to chasing Commies).

Like I said (before the bluenoses pulled the post), these folks deserved Tarleton's Quarter.

The left constantly tried to paint their domestic enemies as Nazis, as a matter of fact, they still do!

It was the soft on crime liberals who were pushing for the death penalty in this case. The left were not always on the same side, they switched whenever it was convenient.
I know because my grandfather was a Democrat politician who was accused of being a communist by his Democrat opponent in a primary because my grandfather voted against some Democrat issue. The only evidence was that he was seen perusing the headlines of a communist newspaper at a newstand. He didn't even buy the paper.

Actually, it was the folks who had a shred of decency in them who were pushing for the death penalty.

But I find it interesting how you take up for Kampfgruppe Peiper in preference to the lives of your countrymen.

I am not supporting Peiper. I am supporting the fact that there are two sides to this story and I don't think that Rabinowitz was fair to her readers by not explaining that McCarthy was simply making similar claims about the treatment of the German soldiers as the liberals are making about the residents of camp X-ray. As a matter of fact the residents of Camp X-ray are being treated much more fairly, only the leaders and the very worst are even being tried, let alone sentenced to death.

Don't try to smear me in an effort to defend your position. Stick to the facts.

I find that Conservatives usually have a pretty consistent style and agenda.

She really took after Ann in this article; another "lifelong Republican BUT" like *Sarah Brady and *Carolyn McCarthy?

*Real Conservatives never start off on talk radio or at the DNC with this BS line.

Seminar line.

I find this writer to be overly angry at Ann Coulter; claiming Ann cranks out these sassy exposes just for the bucks.

I think this article is merely exploiting piggyback on Ann's bestseller.

Like that one newpaper editor that dumped Ann's column.

WHO?

Exactly............

Yes to ALL you've written. And, I don't think that Dorothy is a Conservative . I wish that someone could find out, definatively , what she is. Her championiong ( if that's what they think an interview with Juanita is ) does NOT make one a Conservative . Neither does it make one a Conservative, to be a writer of op-ed pieces for the WSJ ! I've already given Hunt as a prima facia example.

the Demorats wouldn't accept Joe's witnesses and documentation. . .

That is putting it mildly. From July 10, 1953 to January 25, 1954, Rats boycotted the hearings.

For comparison, approximately 100 German prisoners died in US camps, mostly due to disease.

That was in this counrty. Those held europe were another story.

Speaking of war crimes, the executive transcripts just released has the testimony of 16 American servicemen who were subject to atrocities in North Korea. Neither Rabinowitz or anyone else in the media has mentioned what those men endured (when they returned home, some after being shot and left for dead, communists in America were sending them mail--apparently after getting their addresses from comrades in North Korea). All the media and Rabinowitz are interested in are TV actors and Hollywood people who didn't make as much money as they might have.

The testimony of a vet who was shot in the back is here:

STATEMENT OF SGT. BARRY F. RHODEN (The McCarthy Transcript Liberals Do Not Want You To Read) ^

list a dozen Allied atrocities from WWII right here. Go ahead.

Read Stephen Ambrose's Band of Brothers. I doubt there are explicit tales of a dozen Allied atrocities, but there are a sufficient number in a single book written in praise of the American WWII combat soldier to know that it wouldn't be hard to scrounge up the dozen you seek. (I'm assuming that "atrocity" is defined as a violation of the Geneva Conventions that we had subscribed to at the time.)
