Constitution Center Dedicated - Justice O'Connor Nearly Killed
CSPAN | July 4, 2003 | NordP

Posted on 07/04/2003 9:03:58 AM PDT by NordP

At the conclusion of the dedication ceremony of the Constitution Center, today, July 4th, 2003, on stage, a select few were asked to pull the red, white, and blue ribbons, pulling down ceremonial drape... What they pulled down, instead, was quite unexpected. A heavy frame surrounding a mural came crashing down right in front of the first row of these special guests at the ceremony.

I hope Hillary is okay. Remember, it's always about Hillary, no matter where she is.

And God could be heard from above, saying: "Sh*t! Missed!"

Ah, figured it wouldn't take long for the "vengeful God" folks to show up with posts. If your deity cared about the SCOTUS, he would have smitten Stevens a long time ago...

The event was in Philadelphia, where Democrat John Street is mayor. Most likely, Mayor Street allocated the job to somebody whose political connections exceeded his competance

Tower was originally a real right-winger. Just when and why did he move to the left? Was his shift about the time of the divorce from Lou, his first wife? By the way the first Mrs. Tower died last year. One of her daughters was killed in the plane crash that took Tower's life too -- spring 1991. The Towers were in GA promoting his book "Consequences," which focused on his failure to gain Senate confirmation as defense secretary in 1989.

I have voted for every Republican candidate on my ballot (in three different states) since 1972. Well, I did sit out a state senate election in 1996. But I am sure I voted more Republican than did, say, Goldwater, who always pointed out that he regularly voted split tickets.

But supporting O'Connor for chief justice -- I have to draw the line somewhere, and I will sit out 2004 if that happens.

You build nothing with the guy who threatens to take his ball and go home EVERY time he fails to get his way. I for one am sick of begging these people to do what they should.

Ever occur to you that some number of folks might get a little ornery at being told to shut up and vote for whomever they're told to vote?

Most of them are new comers to the movement (to me since I started at 16 years old in '66) and are faint of heart.

Look, not everyone is going to fall into lockstep, or share some vision of "the movement."

The American character will usually reject demands that it should. There's a long, proud tradition in this country of telling the arrogant and powerful to pound sand. That tradition isn't going away (God forbid it ever does), so the arrogant need to get over the delusion that power and votes are their birthrights.

You can't herd cats with a bludgeon.

Yea, I don't take that kind of childish posturing seriously, either. People have to really mature and suck it up, realize that sometimes on an agenda, it's ok to have incremental goals and successes.

I think you're right, lol. They make it sound like it was made out of I-Beam. It hit one guy on the head and bounced off.

"Eeek, I could've been killed, eeeeeeeek!" Sounds just like an hysterical liberal.

It was foam rubber, you dumb twit!

What is almost too much to bear is the thought that Justice O'Conner, who should be impeached for moral turpitude on the basis of that Texas sodomy ruling, might instead be nominated by the President, Mr. Bush, to be Chief Justice.

Is this really a possibility??? A speculation or wild guess, or have you read something about it?

Mayor Daley just held a press conference stating that his city's building inspectors were NOT the fault of this frame collapse.

It's an educational site dedicated to explaining the American liberties protected by the Constitution.

What fitting irony. Right after a week of decisions that mock and scorn the Constitution. (And mock and scorn nature's God and those who want to follow righteous tradition.)

Be careful what you say on this thread another poster said that he wished it had hit fallen on her, granted, not a nice thing to say, but hardly a death threat. He was suspended for putting up a "violence post".

The moderators seem awfully heavy handed these days.
