WHY I LOVE MY COUNTRY
I love her magnificent majesty
Her colors: RED, WHITE and BLUE
from her mighty mountain peaks
to her delta lows
and the way her mighty rivers flow
Her frozen land of glaciers
to her deserts barren and cold
I love my mighty country
on whose rocky roads I've run
I love her Pride and Pomp
I love her patience not to tromp
I love her freedom, she lets me be me
with responsibility
and the SISU to pay the dues
to take care of me at all times, but
should I need a hand,
she is grand and lends a hand up
-not a hand out
She said, I could have an education
that I would have to work for it
no one would hand me my grades
It's a prudent decision she has made...
I love her, because I can run
through the roses at three am
and dream of faraway lands
Be happy in my skin
Oh, yes, I love my homeland
She is Grand

Have a wonderful picnic!
It was raining here when I got up, but now the sun has come out and it looks like it will be a beautiful day. Maybe I'll have a chance to fire up the grill after all!!
Stay safe...

Thanks for your post, Carlo.

Good thoughts, good post. Thanks.
A sunny, slightly warm day in Central Texas. My flag is flying, a cake is baking, and soon I'll be pulling some nice aged ribeyes out of the marinade to grill so my guests can ooh and aah over them. It rained recently, so I hope not to hear too many fire trucks tonight. I won't be doing the usual fireworks, but the kids down the street certainly will, and I intend to watch every one, sipping a glass of wine with a new friend who will be joining me this evening.
I am the luckiest man on the face of the earth to live in such a place and in such a time. God bless the United States of America. Happy Fourth!

Remember: freedom is never free! How right you are, (((((((((carlo))))))))))
May the Lord our Father place his bloodline of protection around our military tp protect them as they protect us. And may we as Americans, members of the greatest nation in the world, always take the time to pray for our military past and present, our Founding Fathers and may we never take the freedoms that we have for granted.
We ask this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
***Happy Birthday America!***

What would our Founding Fathers think about present-day society and how we celebrate their achievement?Paul, my friend, I think they would be proud that more than 145,000,000 Americans are still patriots, albeit somewhat less committed than in "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country", but not everyone in their young America was as committed as others. Thirty two percent of the people of the original settlers wanted to remain subjects of England, and another 33% wanted to break away from the English rule to form their own country, the remaining majority of folks didn't care enough to make their voice heard on the subject!! Not much has changed since the original 4th of July and our independence was won.. sadly.
Because of what they started, we are the envy of the entire world. More people on the earth are free, than any other time in the history of mankind, because of our bravery, courage and dominant presence.
I'll gladly pay my taxes, even if I emphatically disagree with my government, because I can still stand up and fight my own government when I damn well feel like it! The Constitution that the founding Fathers carved out of this rugged land, didn't give me the right to win everything I wanted, any more than the will of the majority of my representatives.
I believe there are people that would like to distort the meaning of our mission statement of the Declaration of Independence, but not enough that I and like-minded people can't fight or change.
We may have strayed a bit off course, but I love this Country more than any other place on earth and would fight for it again, at the drop of a hat, as I know you would. We are still the majority, THANK GOD.

A Great Thanks from America, from a friend of New Zealand.
Good to see another Kiwi out here in the FreeRepublic. Hope you can pull a coup soon to get a PM more like our friend, Aussie MP Howard. Need to get more cooperation from all the various conservative fragments. Looking forward to spending time in the south island in December.
