None of the people, who you're heart is bleeding over, was, I assume, a TRAITOR. That really DOES make a difference and if it doersn't to you, then you might want to rethink why it doesn't.

And which of these laws did he transgress? He was in a country that was a non-combatant. And then the 9/11 attacks happened (which I lost a lot I in, probably a quarter million dollars). Then we go after the taliban in Afghanistan, which is right and good. Walker just happens to live in and is attempting to assimilate into their culture. And we should throw him into jail to be beaten and raped? To what end? What is the purpose of this?
I think our wrath should be against the people that flew planes into buildings and killed many fine people. But the problem with that is they are all dead. And that is one of the anomalies of terrorism. We need to deal with that. Rather than projecting our anger on some poor hapless interloper liberal college student who wanted world peace and understanding and the rest of the bullcrap, who didnt understand global politics, and happened to pick believing in a creed (Islam), in the wrong place at the wrong time.
We should make his life a living hell?
Peoples belief that he should be beaten/raped in jail is just disgusting.
This thread should have been pulled. ZOT!

Walker wasn't an 'innocent college student', he was a member of al-Qaeda. He wasn't fighting with the regular Taliban forces because he didn't speak the local languages- he was fighting with the Arab units who were commanded by al-Qaeda.
And, for that matter, the only reason he travelled to Afghanistan (from Pakistan) was to join in combat.

If death can be produced by a thousand cuts and you get 6 months for one cut, how many collective years are required to kill Lindh?

Like to send a few bucks to the assailant... a little something to spend at the prison store I think I would be willing to contribute to a care package for this guy.

Nobody deserves to be assaulted. I find your post to be barbaric. Sorry I disagree. This walker guy needs to be shot by a firing squad. Or to suffer a daily assualt from the most vile criminals in that place until hes dead as dead can be.

You seriously need to read a book called "The Hunt for Bin laden"
It goes into detail about what this guy exactly did there and what his intentions were.
Anyone you stands up or sides with this piece of trash is a traitor in my opinion.

Lindh was fighting with the Taliban against the Northern Alliance. Then the US army just showed up.
It should not be illegal to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. How the he11 was he supposed to know we where going to attack the Taliban?
There is no evidence that he fired a shot at anybody.
We hadnt even declared war on Afghanistan.
Never to let facts get in the way of a good temper tantrum.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Lindh get the death penalty, but it was the Afghanis who should've been given the exclusive right to try him. He had invaded THEIR country, for crying out loud.

>My only comfort, when it comes to John Walker Lindh, is knowing that he will suffer horrible torment for all eternity.
Further proof that Christians are vermin and human debris.

Where is the evidence of intent to "murder United States nationals" or to assist in "attacks on America?"
Read paragraph 14 of count 1 of the indictment:
http://www.usdoj.gov/ag/2ndindictment.htm
14. In or about June or July 2001, LINDH met with a senior al Qaeda official, Abu Mohammad Al-Masri, who asked LINDH whether he was interested in traveling outside Afghanistan to conduct operations against the United States and Israel. LINDH declined in favor of going to the front lines to fight.

>>The guy is an American citizen for crying out loud.
That's why this sorry SOB who should've dribbled down his mamma's thighs should have been given the death penalty.
To: zoen
Don't bother him with facts.
Plus Johnyboy was Alqaeda not taliban.
His very existence on earth is an offense and insulting to Americans, not to mention the Special OPs guys.
To: FoxPro
Were there? Were you? I stated facts by people that were. Your a twisted f###.
End of discussion for me. I wont talk with the likes of you on this day.

Now your the one calling names, geez you are starting to sound like my ex-wife.
The justice departments own indictment says that he refused to kill Americans. And yet it also charges him with attempting to kill Americans. You cant make this stuff up.
Grow up and read the indictment, if you can. Here is the link (again):
http://www.usdoj.gov/ag/2ndindictment.htm
Read paragraph 14 of count 1 of the indictment.
If you cant argue the facts, pound on the table, you are now pounding on the table.
