Tony Blair should be the one to drop the news on WMD! He's simply the greatest Brit since Thatcher and Churchill. He had to pay a terrible political price for supporting the war. Let him harvest the benefits of this find!!

Yes, he has caught political he** over the Iraq War, and has stood his ground.

I sure wouldn't have a problem with that !

Tony Blair: The price of my conviction

Excerpt:

But there are also consequences of 'stop the war'. There will be no march for the victims of Saddam, no protests about the thousands of children that die needlessly every year under his rule, no righteous anger over the torture chambers which if he is left in power, will remain in being.

I rejoice that we live in a country where peaceful protest is a natural part of our democratic process. But I ask the marchers to understand this.

I do not seek unpopularity as a badge of honour. But sometimes it is the price of leadership and the cost of conviction.

If there are 500,000 on the [Stop the War] march, that is still less than the number of people whose deaths Saddam has been responsible for. If there are one million, that is still less than the number of people who died in the wars he started.

So if the result of peace is Saddam staying in power, not disarmed, then I tell you there are consequences paid in blood for that decision too. But these victims will never be seen, never feature on our TV screens or inspire millions to take to the streets. But they will exist none the less.

President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair of England walk out to address the media in Cross Hall at the White House Nov. 7. "We've got no better friend in the world than Great Britain," said the President during his remarks. White House photo by Paul Morse.

Dean to Kerry "No, I can't hear anything over the sound of that chain saw reving up."

Please see this other thread: US senator expects 'breakthrough' on Iraqi weapons

"Some Democrats who were on the trip were less persuaded by what they had learned and said the focus should be on rebuilding Iraq and getting other nations as well as NATO and the United Nations to help."

Oh, boy! They're already spinning this. We get to watch!

My guess is that they found it, but not in Iraq (I'm thinking Syria or Lebanon).

"If it is good news for the administration, it will be spun into a non-story. "

Exactly. This Commander in Chief can unveil 100 tons of Sadaam's WMD's to the press complete with a marching band, open buffet, and free balloon animals for the kids, but it will simply be ignored by the mainstream media. It's not about the Truth to them, it's about shaping perceptions to fit their worldview.

I hope it's not hype, and I hope it's not a centerfuge. Don't get me wrong, I'm as sure as I can be that WMD were there when the war started. And I realize the importance of finds that demonstarte the existence of a program or the ability to start up a program even in the absense of actual weapons.

But we need a good solid WMD find to whack the Dems over the heads with and demonstrate to the world that Saddam was a threat.

Rush was having a ball with Dean today - primarily on the issue of Dean supporting troops in Liberia. I said it yesterday, and Rush said it today - this support from Dean is only because Liberia is full of BLACK PEOPLE.

Already they are changing the subject from WMD to other nations helping, the UN, troops stretched thin, etc.

Predictable.

I read another report on this topic, and it doesn't sound like much of anything. Just Roberts commenting that some info in the documents they found may lead to discoveries. Promising, perhaps, but nothing justifying Drudge's slant. (IMHO)

It goes on all the time--both in politics and on the corporate level. It's so much fun to watch the opposition look for "wiggle room" and listen to the spin. It's always worth the wait.

Geez, just look at the Dims on the Intelligence Committee: Carl Levin (Mr Magoo leftist); Dianne (San Fran elitist)Feinstein; Dick Durbin (pure scum); John Edwards (bottom-feeding, blood sucking attorney, and phony as they come); and Barbara Mikulski (Socialist extraordinaire). And Olympia Snowe on the Republican side is no great asset.

You still can't let this go until I say "I agree, and I will read from your talking points". Don't gimme this aura of logical argueing being your basis for posting, you did call me nuts and childish, and don't give me this song and dance that "Ain't never seen no name callin' round here inna long time. I was calling what you were saying names, never implying it was you." First, I never told you you need to grow up. I said your logic is childish. Now you are spliting hairs, and yes that is so sad. You're(and its spelled "you're" not "your" for the love of God) getting desperate, or I should say, you've gotten desperate.

That wasn't your original query. You asked "What is the logic in purposefully letting this drag out so long, I don't see it.". You wanted a logical reason for "taking so long"

Yes. That is exactly what I wanted.

(geez some investigations last years), and that the logical reason is there is an investigation taking place and its considered bad form to release information that is being gathered while an investigation takes place.

They aren't mutually exclusive. You are indeed proving there is a reason why they wouldn't come clean with everything they are investigating. You haven't proven what I originally asked, what is the logic for not publishing that they have anything? The people could be hidden who were involved in finding a single cache of anthrax or whatever, cleansed the area, or sealed it off by the military. There is no logic in not disclosing a part of the mountainous evidence Bush and Blair have to end the debate on whether there are WMDs.

I saw that report - it was great! Trace also said that CBS did a poll in Iraq and found out that 2/3 of the people interviewed wanted America to be there and were glad we were helping them to form a new govt. That info - of course - is totally contrary to what the mainstream has been saying for months. Grin on Trace's face ... priceless!!

You haven't proven what I originally asked, what is the logic for not publishing that they have anything?

I answered this too.

Some small bits have been disclosed. We have had the mobile units, we had the container full of documents and we have had the nuclear parts in the rose garden in the backyard. The first two were of units that would be pretty tough to hide from the press. The third seemed to be deliberately disclosed. I take these as warning shots.

It might be noted that even these small bits did nothing to disuade critics, thereby calling into question your underlying childish premise. That premise being that a small disclosure would help answer critics and release the politcal heat.

On another note, but always fitting on FR, is a report on radio saying that Republicans are complaining about Hitlery running around France pushing her book. They say the Senator from N.Y. should be HERE celebrating the Fourth of July instead of pushing her personal agenda.

ABOUT TIME they complained.
