The Bush administration and the U.S. intelligence community have had some success in finding Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, Sen. Pat Roberts said Thursday.
Roberts, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters on a telephone conference call that he couldn't go into detail because the news is classified.
``It's classified information now _ I am urging the administration and the intelligence community to make at least portions of that public,'' Roberts said. ``We've had some success; I'm sorry I can't go into detail about that.''
Roberts, R-Kan., traveled this week to Iraq and the Middle East with members of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Gallagher ran brief interviews on the street. The people on the street have better sense about Iraq and the current aftermath (only 2 months after the march to Bagdad) than the newsmediaites seem to have. One lady even called "them" "idiots". LOL. The media is always behind the ball
Did she really day that .. Reminds of the time when Peter Jennings went out on the street to ask what the people thought .. LOL

Color me skeptical, I have heard this "we found them and we are just letting everyone bash us to make the look worse" arguement before, but then there are still not weapons. What is the logic in purposefully letting this drag out so long, I don't see it.I agree. We haven't found the WMDs yet or it would be leaked like crazy. I have no doubt they will be found eventually. I just hope we don't find them after they've rained down on one of our bases in Iraq. How hard would it be for some Saddamites to roll a hidden artillery piece out of a warehouse and lob shells into one of our bases???
Most people assume that the WMDs aren't a threat anymore, I don't. Until they're found and destroyed, they are still a threat - both in Iraq and cities here.

Gallagher's report was rather scathing of the liberal media. I was surprised as how "specific" it was--and naming several newspapers and networks by name.
I am hoping the video or a transcript of the report will show up on FoxNews.com -- it would be a keeper, for sure.

Then don't pass any of this information to Patrick Leahy. He could very well be one of the main reasons nobody "knows" anything yet.

No political reason. Tell me. how much information does your local police give out when investigating a crime ? Apples and oranges. If you want to tie it to crime, WMD are like the missing body. If they release that they have it, the only thing that could happen is that they get confessions for more bodies in order to get some clemency.
I don't know a police Dept that hides the fact that they found a missing person's body.

What is the logic in purposefully letting this drag out so long, I don't see it. The 2004 election is the reason.

how long would you expect the RATS to drag it out if nothing is released, hmmmm?
To: epluribus_2
if nothing is released Who is the keeper of this information? Not the DNC. Hillary might be on the Intelligence Committee, but she doesn't have the power of the executive office. And, she has been really quiet about WMD. I think that is extremelly significant. She is probably gleefuly watching Kerry, Dean, etc hanging themselves, so that she can swoop in, as the savior of the democratic party.

This is called in political circles - BAIT
The plan goes like this.
1) Have some relevant information
2) Leak from some well placed sources
3) Get you opponents whipped up into a frenzy calling for the release of the details
4) Get the press to start thinking there is blood in the water
5) What till the calls get louder
6) Drop the bomb (release the information)
7) Watch the Demorats scurry away in disarray
