Republicans are perfectly content with taking and holding power and taking and holding our money. There's no surprise here; Big Stupid Republican Government is just fine with these parasites.

Bushbots, you've been conned.

A grand slam home run!

Back in 1993, when the D's pushed through the big tax increases, the R's whined and did not support any of the efforts to a pass a budget that Senator Bob Kerry called "A bad budget."

I haven't heard or seen any effort by the R's to repeal those taxes that they vilified. Remember the increase on the Senior Citizens, that the R's are so concerned about (at least at election time).

Also I haven't heard or seen any efforts by either R's or D's to STOP levying INCOME TAX on UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS!

Both parties are really pimps of the election industry and strongly believe in VERY BIG GOVERNMENT. There MIGHT be a micron of difference in magnitude between them!

Majority Leader Bill Frist is a man who seems more concerned with getting along than getting on with the business at hand, namely breaking the filibuster of two highly qualified nominees for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Miguel Estrada and Priscilla Owen.

And the difference between Bill F. and Ol'Trent is...?

Jane should do herself a favor and not refer to these New World Order Globalists as "conservative leaders". They are NOT conservatives.

He's a republican, of course; he is spineless and listens to the press and to polls....He wants to be everyone's friend and wants the press to say good things about him.  When Clinton was in office he appointed 373 pro-abortion, liberal federal judges to the bench with hardly NO complaints from the Republicans.

Now that we are in control, namely republican frist, we can't get our people appointed.

Bush appointed 6, yes 6, pro-abortion judges to the federal judiciary in NJ.  Why? He didn't want a fight.  Is he pro-life?  I'm not sure.  And why Estrada?  Didn't he file a brief on behalf of NOW,  While he was solicitor General??

When are they going to follow their very own platform, the platform of the Republican party, why arent' they PUSHING for a human life amendment????

http://www.rnc.org/GOPInfo/Platform/2000platform4.htm

The Supreme Court’s recent decision, prohibiting states from banning partial-birth abortions —  a procedure denounced by a committee of the American Medical Association and rightly branded as four-fifths infanticide — shocks the conscience of the nation.  As a country, we must keep our pledge to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence.  That is why we say the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.  We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.  (Ha, that will be the day) Our purpose is to have legislative and judicial protection of that right against those who perform abortions.  We oppose using public revenues for abortion and will not fund organizations which advocate it.  We support the appointment of judges who respect traditional family values and the sanctity of innocent human life.  (Except in NJ)

And as far as Filibustering goes, the Senate can filibuster a bill, a piece of legislation, and not an appointment of a person!

Why is Bill Clinton's AmeriCorps program still being funded?? Are they afraid what the press and Bill Clinton will say about them? Who is really runnig this country and controlling the budget--the largest budget in America's History?

Both these so called parties are moving us in the same direction

The only difference is the speed at which we are moving

The Republicans used to believe in America The Republic and not America the Democracy
The immovable rock of our foundation rather than that which is subject to the vissitudes & whims of professionally shaped public opinon and it's marxist- 3rd way handlers.

A post like this, if written about how the Democrats were to blame, and the Republicans couldn't do anything about it, would garner over 200 replies. Being it edges up to criticizing the Republicans for being pushed around by a minority, there will be very few replies, and this thread will die an early death. Thank you for posting it, this is very important for all conservatives to read and react to.

I wish Dr. Bill Frist had just one of the cojones Dr. Howard Dean has.
Not the ideas, just the plums.

I've come to the conclusion that these guys aren't spineless - they just don't believe in their own rhetoric. They don't really care about the issues. They talk the talk so they can get elected. It's phoney and yet we get suckered time and time again by them.

I can't recall any majority leader from either party that hasn't been branded with the same attributes. Spineless, no cojones, lazy, clueless... I think we might be misunderstanding what his job is. Not only does he have to keep his party headed in the same direction, he also has to keep the other side willing to move legislations through the senate or defeat it, if that is the stated policy. When things are in gridlock, even though we sometimes would prefer that, the majority leader is failing in his job and has become ineffective. He doesn't have an easy job when you consider that he is trying to keep Senator Sessions and Senator Snowe singing from the same song book, and he is trying to keep Ted Kennedy from filibustering everything that hits the floor, or Hillary from showboating. It's either misunderstanding their job, or we have the uncanny ability to pick the most useless individuals to serve as majority leader.
