Young men are running from marriage

Other than a 29-inch waist and a full head of hair, there isn't much to recommend the twentysomething male.
He is footloose and fancy-free -- except for the fact that he is likely to be living with his parents. It takes him longer to leave home than his women friends, and he is more likely to return.
He is, of course, sexually active and therefore at increased risk of unmarried fatherhood, but he doesn't especially like kids. He considers them a financial burden and an irritant in any relationship with the mother.
He is openly suspicious that a woman would try to trap him with a pregnancy or that a one-night stand would result in a pregnancy and a long-term parenting relationship with a woman he doesn't care about and doesn't want to marry. This fear, however, doesn't keep him from regularly waking up with a stranger.
He has no biological clock because he can father children well past middle age, so he is in no hurry to marry. He is looking for a "soul mate," and he believes there is someone out there whom he is destined to love.

Their possible slogan....
Don't get married. Find a woman you hate and buy her a house. It's a lot easier on you.

Golly! It looks like the whole "modern" approach to sex and gender issues hasn't worked out so well for women. Ummmmmm, will all the sociology professors start teaching their students to go back to a more traditional pattern of behavior? Or will they just continue to say that men are scum and that no one should expect anything good from them?

It is so..... Blame several factors including paterntiy fraud, divorce court, feminism, and lawyers.

His loose morals and lack of responsibility mirror the attitude of his female companions. The pill has destroyed the resonsibility of parenthood in a large percentage of the population.

So, with whom are these irresponsible males having sex?
Unless it is rape, then it is with irresponsible women.

The lives of children have become "more turbulent, insecure, and anxiety-filled" as a result of this loose-jointed relationship between their parents, and they face more than twice the risk of social and behavioral problems. I suspect many of the people whose lives are discussed here would just brush off such a report with one of those Supreme Court sayings: "Hey, it's my private life. Leave me alone!" But the social effects of loose, uncommitted relationships have been showing up in American children for some time now. If anyone wonders where it will lead, they need look no further than the inner city, where married 2-parent families have virtually disappeared.

Wow. Bill Clinton.

I have three nephews in their 20's. One works three jobs and has three children, one works two jobs and one child the third is expecting his 1st baby in December. All have wives. Maybe this happens in FL but not in Ohio.

He is openly suspicious that a woman would try to trap him with a pregnancy or that a one-night stand would result in a pregnancy and a long-term parenting relationship with a woman he doesn't care about and doesn't want to marry. I'm too old for such high adventure, although such boys existed even in my youth. There have likely been such as these through time.
It strikes me that such relationships require two people operating only on brain stems. Such boys will continue to have their way as long as there are countless women out there that enjoy the same life style.
Still, I look at the friends of my own kids, and my kids (although I may be prejudiced), and there are many that are responsible and either are now making fine adults or will in the near future. I also know there are lots of youngsters in teens and twenties who are still looking for traditional relationships. Some may not be completely adept as to how to go about it.
If a woman doesn't locate a man to be her husband, it's because she sells herself cheap.
