If it had been in Kalipornia, she would get a year in a rest home and then run and win as a RAT State Senator. Her "prison" experience would put her on several committees. The prosecutors who put her in "prison" would be dis-barred and maligned by the RAT media (LAT & SFC). Jessie Jackson would be her champion, legal and PR advisor and protector.

She made a big mistake On a tactical level she blundered by boasting about this at a party.

I don't know what the charge would be, I'm not in the legal system. Just my observation that this seems like two separate crimes, although they are from the same incident. To say she is guilty of murder makes it sound like they convicted her of murder for running into him with the car, not letting him die. Very tough case, IMO.

But you would not be following the Texas law.See#168 or google felony murder Texas and hit untitled. In the appeal doc felony murder is explained.

Don't agree with you. She's a brain dead kid who completely freaked out. Her biggest crime was not getting help for this poor guy and the cover up.
The act itself was not premeditated so she does not deserve death.
Her life is ruined. That's enough.

During closing arguements the prosecutor said she was out a week later, partying and getting stoned, trying to pick up another "boyfriend" and planning on destroying the car.

He died in about 2 hours the medical examiner said.I believe they dumped the body the night after the early morning accident. All said a fireman could have saved his life. Her brother was a fireman at work nearby.

Yes, there was a fire station, a hospital, and a police substation near enough to drive to, from what I have read.

Sorry...thought I read it took him two days to die from his injuries/bleeding to death. (Still sounds horrible!!!) Thanks for the info!!!!

Early on, I thought they should have charged her with kidnapping. In Texas, is kidnapping and murder a capital crime? If so, seems she already received a gift from the prosecution. Even people I know that are soft on crime cringe when you tell them that she drove off with the body part way in her car. And then drove to her house and put her car in the garage and let the guy die with glass in his face. Your right she got a gift by not being charged with kidnapping. You take a person against their will, to a place they don't want to be, it has to be kidnapping.

How can he say she isn't a horrible person? What on earth kind of person hits a man with her car, drives home with him hanging in her windshield, listens to him moan and suffer God only knows what, and then cries in court, "I didn't know what to do" as an excuse? If that isn't a horrible person, I don't know what is. So, why wasn't this a "HATE CRIME?"

the act of driving home and closing the garage door while she pondered how to get herself out of the mess is premeditation.

I have rethought this. I have come to the conlusion that lesser time served may be appropriate, I would say 30 days, would be enough.
ONLY If she has to serve those thirty days with THIS GUY, who would be granted immunity for his efforts during this time.
