The Jewish tradition mandates us to recite the Mourners Prayer or Kaddish following the death of a family member or friend. The theme of Kaddish is rather the Greatness of God as a being. In Memory and in Honor of Senator Thurmond, I urge us all to pray for the late Senators family.
Hebrew Version: Yisgadal v'yiskadash sh'may raho, B'olmo deev-vro birusay, v'yamloch mal-busay, Bh-yah-boh uvyo-mayhon, uv-ha-yahd' hol hays yisrael, Ba-a-go-lo u-vizman ko-reev, v'im-ru omayn.
Y'hay ah'may ra-ho m'vorab, l'olam ul-ol-may-yo. Yisborah v'yish-tabab, v'yispoar v'yisomamm V'yis-na-yah, v'yis-hadar, v'yisaleh, v'yishalal sh'may d'kud sho b'rib hu;
L'ay-lo min kol bir-ho-so v'shee-roso, Tush-b'ho-so v'ne-heh-mo-so, da-a-mee-ron b'ol-mo, V'lim-ru Amen.
Y'hay sh'lo-mo ra-bo mon sh'ma-yo, V'ha-yeem o-lay-nu v'al kol yisrael b'im ru Amen. O'se shalom bim-ro-mov hu-ya-asay shalom O-lay-nu v'al kol yisrael v'im-run Amen.
In English: Glorified and sancitifed be God's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen.
May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, beyond all the blessing and hymns, praises and consolations that are ever spoken in the world; and say Amen.
May there be abundat peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say Amen.
He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say Amen.

Goodbye dear friend. You were a true soldier.

It will be interesting to see if the tributes forthcoming to the memory of the late Strom Thurmond are restrained and tepid, considering what happened to Trent Lott in December 2002.
I think there are only a handful of sitting senators today who could match Thurmond's courage, determination, and perseverance.

Two giants have fallen. Senator Thurmond and Governor Maddox.
The haters will continue to decry these men's alleged racism but those who studied them more carefully and knew them better understand that our beloved nation can ill afford the loss of real men and statesmen in an age of unprincipled political correctness.
Perhaps they were taken that they may not see the cup of abominations America has drunken of in the overthrow of Texas' Decency laws.
"Lord, in thy judgment remember mercy."

Of all the things Strom accomplished, his last day in the Senate impressed me the most. He deservedly chatised Lehey (sp?) in front of the whole Senate and the country. Haven't heard much from Lehey since. Didn't Strom just become a grandfather too?

The beautiful poetry of the Kaddish is a princely tribute indeed, and so fitting for a man of Senator Thurmond's stature.
Shalom aleichem, dear Senator.

No Sir, Strom certainly didn't practise racism. He supported his mulatto daughter with honor.
