I don't want any of these nations to have wmd. Is any nation which developes this kind of destruction really capable of being trusted. We continue to research and develope more and better WMD, all the while condeming other nations. Even the French have them!!!
It's hypocrisy. That is what my feelings are concerning the President stating he will not tolerate nukes in Iran. As far as moral equivalency, we as a nation have nothing to brag about anymore.

Bay of Pigs
Iran/contra
How about letting Afgan grow and distribute its herion

The list of our international blunders into foreign affairs is on going. We got our nose bloody by a bunch of low tech, whimpy rag heads. Instead of an honest look at why they consider us an enemy, we go and invade a bunch of no account nations in the name of Homeland defense.

The Saudis had the greates role in the attacks, why not kick their but and cut off the money?

Thank goodness.

I hate it when they start with the "But Isreal has WMD garbage." As if Isreal is comparable to an Iraq or an Iran. I have no patience for that kind of crap.

Farewell, retread!

I couldn't figure out if he was far-left or far-far right. The two tend to be so extreme that they meet in the middle.

There is no doubt he found out what the "direct threat" of a ZOT is all about :-)

Simply any fanatical regime that sends out its people to die in the process of killing others so they can go to heaven can't be allowed to have nukes. You can have no nuclear deterrent with these people. They'll murder millions in the name of Allah.

Any fanatical regime that demands "Death to America" can't be allowed to have nukes.

It's about time we starting taking these people at their word. They've declared war on us. Let's return the favor.

Incite a preventive revolution.

Isn't that just the way? I mean a given?

Too bad he didn't think the threat was imminent, even though it was.

Anyone who can think that nuclear weapons in the hands of a regime like what is currently in Iran is not a threat to us and the rest of the free world doesn't have a grasp of reality (facts on the ground)

Iran is hosting and supporting Hezbollah and Hamas as well as a few other terrorist organizations who have absolutely no regard for human life or any reluctance to kill themselves in the name of the false religion they worship. To think that we or anyone other free nation that believes in protecting their people would just shrug their shoulders and say to themselves, "We don't want people to think we are imperialist, so we shouldn't do anything about this clear and present danger" are people who should never-ever be in the position to make these kinds of life or death decisions.

Thank God we have adults in the White House who understand that we can no longer kick the can down the road like Bill Clinton did for 8 years

Certainly we have WMD. The world would be crushed under the iron boot of totalitarianism had we not. You would agree that the Soviet Union would have easily crushed the West had we unilaterally disarmed, right? You would also agree that we didn't destroy other fledgling nuclear powers when we had the advantage, nor did we need WMD to win the cold war, correct? This would imply that we are responsible in our use of WMD.

The French have had nuclear weapons for fifty years, and not threatened anyone. Good fences make good neighbors, as does good deterrence. The may be slimy as lawyers, but they care about living to cheat another day, and are not a threat to anyone.

Islamists, dictators, and madmen are lower than the French, no question. They care nothing for killing others, and cannot be deterred because they do not care if they or their people die with them. If their only concern is to strike and kill, regardless of their survival, then you have to make a moral judgement. Should we allow them to have nuclear weapons, even if that means that they will kill us with them, or should we stop them, even if that means being unfair.

As far as moral equivalency, we as a nation have nothing to brag about anymore.

Because we've done wrong in the past? You're right, we've not always been perfect. Let's transfer all our WMDs to that country that's never done anything wrong, and let them police the world. I'm sure they'll do a great job.

The list of our international blunders into foreign affairs is on going. We got our nose bloody by a bunch of low tech, whimpy rag heads.

So, what is your point? I can punch Mike Tyson once. Al Qaida got in a nice sucker punch, and we've been feeding them to the woodchipper feet first ever since. Is your point that it our fault because we're not psychic and can't see everything coming?

Instead of an honest look at why they consider us an enemy, we go and invade a bunch of no account nations in the name of Homeland defense.

The honest look is that Islamic fundametalists fear that the all pervasive American culture, values, and power will eclipse and destroy the dominance of Sharia, Islamic faith, and Arab culture. They see this as a battle of survival for their way of life and all they hold dear. To that end, I would say that they are entirely correct in their assessment of the situation, and entirely wrong in the value they place on that which they defend.

I do know the enemy, and understand their motivations. I also do not agree with them, and will work to ensure that they lose the struggle they have started against us.
