I never said anything about anyone's death being less than anyone else's. You're the one doing that.

We're fighting the war on terror because for almost 20 years, terrorists have been blowing up Americans, and the policy of the U.S. was not to take decisive action. Thus, we got the reputation of being all bark and no bite--hence, more terrorist attacks. 9/11 wasn't the beginning of something, it was the end of something. It was the U.S. not acting decisively and meting out real punishment for the murder of Americans...we finally said ENOUGH! We're not going along to get along any more. And we turned the world upside down, because the status quo got us 9/11. The world needed turning upside down and shaking up. And that includes no more pussyfooting with Iraq, which has been a festering sore for 12 years. That showed the UN that they can't go along to get along any more either. And we're not finished. So yes, it might get worse before it gets better, but in the end, we will be better off.

The economy goes up and down, just like it always has. That's nothing new. It will rise again and it will fall again. But another 9/11? No way. They all know now that we're not just going to sit back and take it, like we did after Beirut, like we did after Khobar Towers, like we did after the USS Cole. Just remember the way things were done on 9/10 and ask yourself if it helped us at all. It didn't.

To paraphrase your post, one death is a tragedy, 3000 a statistic, eh? /dripping sarcasm

The memorial committee has just been chosen, according to last weekend's news reports, to develop a 9-11 memorial at the Pennsylvania crash site. Four relatives of the crash victims were on the board that interviewed the candidates.

I'm looking forward to details of how to contribute.

That's great. Please keep us updated on that. I know it will take forever for the WTC memorial in NYC. There are too many people involved in it and too many politicians!

This war is about preventing future attacks more than punishing past ones. It's thinking like yours that had us ignoring the magnitude of the terrorism threat over the past two decades or more.

"Lets also put this into context. the WTC certainly was a tragedy, but we lose 3000 American lives each day due to abortion. Still, our population increases by 3000 each day or two due to immigration, regardless of 3000 dying daily. Yes, it was bad, but 3000 people dying did not cause this economic depression we are in. We are not fighting in Iraq because of the 17 people who did this, because most of them(14) were Saudi's from Saudi Arabia, not Iraqis. Too many people are trying to put all the blame of everything, the war, and the economy, on the WTC incident, and on Iraq."

Sure. It's all about oil. We nuke Saudi, and problem solved. 3,000 murders by terrorists in one attack is not as bad as abortion, blah, blah. Relativist tripe.

Yes, the murder of 3,128 people, destruction of records, databases and phone lines, the subsequent loss of jobs due to vaporized companies DID put us into the economic slum we're in - it's not a depression. We have had two of those: 1929 and 1979. Saddam was a terrorist kingpin. You forgot to mention bin Laden (a Saudi) and company in Afghanistan. You obviously have no idea about organized terror.

Nuking Saudi will not solve the problem. Wahabbism is everywhere and run by vicious, greedy creeps who are about as religious as Bubba and Je$$e.

The problem with the investigation of 9/11 is that no one wants to touch it. People doing the investigating are expected to blame it on the Bush administration, which would require lying. Kissinger accepted the job for...what...two weeks before quitting? I'd like to see an investigation. But not this leftist manufactured political 'What did Bush know and when did he know it" crap. He was in Office for 8 months. He'd stared down China and pushed the first tax cut through the Democrat controlled senate. Meuller was at his post less than ONE month. It was one vague warning out of thousands a week.

These men are NOT to blame....but the Dempcrat party is bound and determined the Bush administration WILL be faulted regardless. That's not an investigation : it's a political witch hunt.

NEVER FORGET is RIGHT!

An illuminating question I've read since then was "Can you REMEMBER "What you were doing on September 10"!

Indeed, I can't. But I remember reading news a week or two BEFORE 9/11 saying that, I believe, matchbooks (?) were air-dropped offering a $50,000 reward for information/capture, a $$ typographical error, for pig-spawn (once again with major apologies to swine) Osama when the amount was supposed to read $500,000.

I am not in any way demeaning your relatives death...but was your relative murdered by an Arab terrorist? If not, your entire post is relativist crap and you're using a dead person to further your agenda. That is despicable,

Thanks for the link. I'll never forget it and I'll never forgive it and I hope we keep prosecuting the war on terror for the rest of my life. It will take that long, at least, to kill all the Muslim extremists.

I know it's almost 2 years since the 9/11 attacks but we must never forget the reason we are fighting! I know I will never forget! :-(

This is a real unusual 9-11 tribute I found.... By BlueManGroup.

You signed up today so that you could quote a Salon article on FR? I don't see a bright future for you here.

Regarding the insipid Salon nonsense, do you really believe the correct criteria for investigating a savage terrorist attack is money? And while we're at it, just what did the Warren commission accomplish? It's forty-years since JFK was assassinated, and there's still a zillion conspiracy theories out there (and as many websites). Money well spent clearing that up, right?

The Pearl Harbor commission's findings are thought by many to have created scapegoats of Army and Navy personnel in order to appease the public.

And lumping the Columbia investigation with the JFK assassination and Pearl Harbor is ludicrous (it's the only one in the outcome is mentioned, by the way). There was no conspiracy or foreign power involved in the Columbia disaster; it was a forensic investigation -- no comparison to the other incidents.

Finally, 9/11 was a conspiracy with tentacles spanning the globe. We already know much about the actions, motivation and funding of the terrorists, and anyone with half a brain knows that we were vulnerable due to decades of turning the other cheek to Islamic terrorism.
