SPECIAL FORCES PREPARE FOR IRAN ATTACK [CIA Already In Country]
UK Evening Standard ^ | June 17, 2003 | Robert Fox

Posted on 06/17/2003 7:39:25 AM PDT by ewing

British and American Intelligence and Special Forces have been put on alert for a conflict with Iran within the next 12 months as fears grow that Terhan is building a nuclear weapons program.

Iran has been constructing a nuclear civil power program for some years. It is due to start generating electricity for the national power grid in two years.

However, United Nations, American and European Union experts have become alarmed at the extent of nuclear power plants in Iraq and many are of a sophistication that suggests they are for a weapons program rather than for civil use.

A full report by the International Atomic Energy Authority is due to be published within days. It points at discrepencies in what Iran has officially disclosed about its nuclear facilities.

Already CIA agents are known to have been working inside Iran to establish the full range of the Iranian nuclear program.

At the same time, for many people all that 444 days happened before they were born.

It didn't happen before I was born.

I was nine years old in 1979. The Iranian hostage crises is burned into my memory--but it ended and I grew up to have a good life. Somewhere in Iran there is a young man who was nine years old in 1979, and who has grown up fearing a bullet in the back of the head or being hung from a crane in public view. It's time for that man, and thousands like him, to have their freedom. Let us redeem those 444 days, not out of vengence, but out of generosity and justice. Let the world see, once more, American principles in action. Pursuit of those principles can free Iran for the Iranians. They too, were victims of the hostage-takers.

It is time to take out Iran.

It would be among the worst geopolitical/military decisions of the last two centuries to permit Iran, a proponent of Islamo-terror, to go forward with acquiring nuclear weapons.

Even the suspicion of this should cause a wise world power to intervene forcibly. (Jump on this with both feet!)

The whole region may fall before these guys finally get the picture that Bush/ Rumsfeld is serious..

Hey! That'd give us someplace to export our 10 million illegal aliens from Mexico! That could be a REAL winner!

Well, it's more like killing two birds with one stone. You deal with Saddam and any nasty stuff he might have set aside for later use and wrap that problem up. In so doing you have this force full of Big Dogs sitting at the head of the Persian Gulf. One follows from the other.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Yep, it's been a while since I looked that up. They had ordered 150 F-16's, but that order was cancelled after the revolution and none were delivered. Still, the F-14 is a formidable weapon. As to how many are still flyable, the Iranians (for obvious reasons) don't like to say. Supposedly the Iranians have been buying underground F-14 parts via Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union, which has allowed them to keep a decent number of them in the air. 15-20 are estimated to be airworthy enough for daily flying (and are used for training), but allegedly a number of the not-so-safe ones are still flyable and could be pressed into emergency service during an attack. The numbers I've seen estimate between 30 to 50 F-14's could be potentially put in the air, depending on the amount of risk the Iranians are willing to take with their pilots and parts supply.

The biggest problem here, of course, is that there are a lot of "estimateds", "allegedly"'s and "supposedly"'s when talking about the Iranian F-14's. We have some stories from pilots who've defected, but only the Iranians and the CIA really know how many are capable of fighting. The only thing we can be sure of is that Iran will not be the same pushover than Iraq was.

Myself, I am tired of all this pussyfooting around.

This a fricking war, take it to them and let it explode, at least the little cockroaches will come out of their holes to retaliate, and then we can squish them.

Yes, there will be damage, and YES, people will die, but this is a war!!

Hit them hard enough and the terrorists groups will come out to play, and then we STOMP them into the dust.

No doubt about it. Sadam gave us the excuse. But the re-alignment was already underway as indicated by the early on discussions about moving US forces out of Germany toward the new Europe.

What concerns me down the road is South America. Marxism isn't dead, it's learning Spanish.

G.W. came into office to make the world a safer and more peaceful place.

^^^

Amen! Amen! God bless President Bush.

Some say he is here to fulfill prophesy "Revelations".

In Revelations it talks of the fall of Babylon (present day Iraq) before the final battle.

It states the "Beast" will con his people and they will worship him.

It also states that he will be allowed to continue for 40 and two months (about the same time as a stint in office).

Paranoia maybe, but some people believe.

I would agree with your scenario, I just think the slow scenario at present (letting the students slowly destablize the country) Is the wrong way.

It takes a long time for that to happen and these people can be murdered over night, then what we wait another few months, before we do anything. The is right and the time is now or stike while the iron is hot comes to mind.

If these people are given time, they will send out their dogs of war, and worse they could have these nukes or suitcase nukes sent out also.

GWB is more than likely getting advise to stay cool and leave it until after the next election. Well he cannot afford too.

You can sabre rattle with Iraq becuase you know there defences are pretty much shot, but you need brute force to take on Iran.

I'm sure there are a lot of "sources" in a lot of places with some interest in keeping the Mullah's afloat. Associating this uprising with the efforts of outsiders could help that goal.

There's every chance that this is for real, but it's so Debkaesque that my BS detector is going off.

I'm not disagreeing with you or anything just curious- where do the Russians get F-14 parts?
