LYING HISTORY
Simon and Schuster is thrilled with the initial sales of Hillary Clinton's Living History. But internal memos indicate that that feeling of good cheer will be short-lived. Part of the plan to generate buzz on the book was the leaking of some of the most sensational tidbits that had been pulled together by three ghostwriters for the former first lady.
"That was really to jump-start the sales," says a Simon and Schuster editor. "It's a tried and true technique."
But, says the editor, there are real concerns this book won't have staying power. "All the people that really love her and want the book have already gotten it. We know we are not going to be seeing hundred thousand sales two weeks from now."

Wait til it dawns on Hillary that she could have really sold books if only Bill had been removed from office!

Alert. Hitlery is going to be on "The Late Show With David Letterman" on CBS at 11.30 ET tonight. It's a new haunting for her, not a rerun.

Some random thoughts: The production companies [in the 1970s] in the movie making business would use strange accounting
procedures to shift profits around to put shines on sneakers. The problem was, if you're Sean Connery and was
due a piece of what became a box office hit, a very large portion of your profits was shifted to some really smelly sneakers.
Could this happen at Simon and Schuster?
My other wondering is how are ghost writers compensated? If S&S is saying 400K books, and it's by the copy, can the ghost writers go after the royalties on 400K copies?

The legal implications here are different of course, but what is the moral difference between what Hillary perpetrates and Simon/Shuster in manipulating the public for personal profit and gain.
The only thing honest about Hillary's memoir, that would be the entire production, start to finish. . .from receipt of cash advance to Hill's royalties and anyone elses through distortions and outrightlies of PR and Marketing;. . .
. . . is that it has been a sham; a lie perpetrated against the public for personal gain.
Is there not at least a 'moral comparison' between this book; and the very least of what Martha Stewart is accused of? . . .and maybe what Sam Waxsal is guilty of?
