San Francisco (dpa) - Huge swarms of hungry grasshoppers have invaded the western United States, prompting agricultural experts to warn of damage unparalleled in decades.

The plague has hit the states of Nevada, Utah and Idaho particularly hard and shows no sign of abating.

``This is bigger then anything we've seen in a long time,'' said expert Mike Cooper, quoted in ``The Idaho Statesman''.

Cooper cited records showing the current swarms to be the largest since World War II. Officials in Idaho have posted warning signs near highways warning of slippery conditions if the crickets swarm on the road.

In Utah, authorities predict that 2.5 million hectares could be devoured by the invading swarms. Authorities are hoping to use insecticide to prevent the situation's getting out of hand, but environmental groups have filed four law suits hoping to block the spraying.

I read this on Drudge and had to laugh. Since when were grasshoppers becoming extinct, anyway?

The enviro-nazis think that pesticides in and of themselves are bad, not that they have any love for grasshoppers. They would rather 90% of the crops die and farmers lose their land before admitting that pesticides are comparatively harmless. (no food versus 1 out of 1,000,000 people getting cancer, or some such.)

Quick cure for any grasshopper problems you might have - get some chickens. Mine get so fat on the bountiful supply of hoppers around here that they can hardly walk or cluck.

Not at all. Unless history revisionism is the objective, the definitions are quite clear.

There were no "Jews" until the small remnant of the 3 tribes which made up the Southern Kingdom of Israel returned from Babylonian captivity. That was around 500 BC, and nearly a thousand years after Moses and the 12 tribes of Israelites did their thing in Egypt. The members of the larger "10 tribes" of Israel which made up the Northern Kingdom were never called Jews.

Therefore, Moses, David and the 5 Million others before the Davidic Kingdom split were not Jews, just plain old Israelites.
