Call the Texas Gov office (Texas CHL)

Posted on 06/13/2003 11:49:36 AM PDT by enviros_kill

Texas freepers: please call the Texas governor's office and voice your support for the CHL correction bill awaiting his signature (SB501). This amendment and clarification to our CHL law will allow the 230,000 CHL licensees in Texas the right to carry concealed in municipal and other town offices.

It takes just a minute to call the Texas Governor's Citizen's Opinion Hotline at 800-252-9600.

I suppose you could call even if you aren't actually from Texas -- tell 'em you're out of state on business or something!

They only asked my name. They didn't ask where I live.

Wear out that 800 number!

Freep the heck out of that number. They don't ask where you're from. Thanks for the heads up I didn't know that number existed.

What is "CHL"? Is this a bad thing? Personally, I like carrying my handgun.

Thank you for posting this again; and thanks to everyone who called.

The anti-gun groups are asking Gov. Perry to veto SB501. Their latest argument is that the legislature did not consider the true ramifications of the bill, so Perry should veto it in order to prevent a mistake. Of course the argument is hogwash. The municipal organizations (Democrats) sent witnesses [I wonder if they were on government time]; the legislature engaged in serious debate; and believe me that the Hupp and the other pro-gun legislatures knew exactly what they were doing.

I hope that I am not asking too much, but sending a letter would also be very helpful. The Gov’s office keeps a tally of calls and one of written correspondence. A simple letter, no more than one line is necessary, saying “Please sign SB 501” or “I am strongly in favor of SB 501”.

Thanks in advance!

I've been away from the state longer than I like but still consider it home, and always thought those here in Memphis at work who called me *Tex* were making a compliment. But I still consider Cleburne to be my old home, and I hope to return there as soon as I can.

I'll see if I can make that call from here over the weekend, or possibly next Monday.

Yes, I'm from Texas originally, and consider that state my home too. Many friends and relatives are there, and I visit often. I will be writing and calling as well, because *An armed society is a polite society.*
