"We're just not taking any chances," he said. "My life's in danger so I'm going to approach them [the Iraqis] as hostile. And until I'm proved otherwise, that's the way I'm going to approach it." Sounds fair.

Note that the way this article is written, Spc. Rossi is "unapologetic" about breaking the guy's furniture.
Yellow journalism at its best.

about 70 opposition fighters were killed in Thursday's attack on the training camp most apparently non-Iraqis from other countries in the region.
Seventy less suicide bombers to deal with.
Allah says, No virgins for you!

"My brother was beaten, hit in the face and was killed," he said, adding that U.S. troops took away medicine his family was bringing for a cousin who had suffered a heart attack "and smashed it under their feet." Bagdad Bob Alert!!!

If these people would turn in the terrorists instead of aiding and abetting the murderers, the treatment would be very different.
The 'resident' - a misnomer for a very suspicious character, who claimed,
'...31 members of his family, males aged 13 to 70, were detained. "There was no reason for them to be arrested. They did nothing," he said...' may be starting the nuclues of his own terrorist brigade!
If he can be believed, one might add to his statement, that they [the 31 members of his family that were detained] just haven't had a chance to do anything yet.
This operation is a mess that will take time. They, those sympathetic or at best apathetic to the Sodom regime, will just have to learn that there is more to life than terrorism!

I'm not saying that these "foreign fighters" are directly sponsored by their respective nations, but each one identified should be send back to their home of origin in a box while a billion dollars is charged against their countries' accounts.
Make that one hundred million bucks, but GWB gets to kick their nations' leaders in the nuts ten times for each "foreign fighter" we pick up.

How long will it be before we start seeing presidential campaign ads calling for the US to pull out of Iraq.We are going to be there and need to be there for quite sometime,I hate the loss of American soldiers lives but this is a rat killing that is about 35 years late and Syria should take note.We have a full plate and just when we think we took the last bite we get served a fresh platter.

Isn't this a Geneva Convention warfare rule? That after attacking someone during battle, you apologize?

"About 100 Iraqi fighters have been killed ..."
It's not enough...

""Isn't this a Geneva Convention warfare rule?""
One Geneva Convention rule that I find interesting is the one that says that fighters who are not part of a nations formal armed forces may be summarily executed.

Is a mandatory sterilzation program a humane act when these sons-a-bitches are captured? It would be getting rid of a problem without the mass graves, IMO.

...an "organized group" ambushed a U.S. tank patrol with rocket propelled grenades in Balad...Dumb move. Hey Ahmed, I've got a box of rocks you can set up as your leader. Maroons.

They apparently don't learn very quickly. An RPG against a tank is only slightly more effective than throwing rocks.

Our presences in Iraq may actually stabilize the region in ways we don't realize. All the other countries will be able to send their zealots, fanatics and maniacs into Iraq to 'Crush-the-Infidel'. In that case they can charge M-1A2s, Bradleys and Apaches with their AKs and RPGs. I consider this much preferrable to having them agitate for Islamic states in their own countries or emmigrating and killing helpless civilians in the Western countries.
