White House Backs Latest Israeli Attacks
Focus Shifts to Arab Leaders' Commitment to End Support for Militant Groups

The Bush administration signaled strong support for Israel's crackdown on militant groups yesterday, effectively abandoning its earlier criticism of the government of
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that had sparked an outcry from lawmakers on Capitol Hill and pro-Israel lobbying groups.
In coordinated statements, White House and State Department officials tried to shift the diplomatic focus from Israeli actions to the commitment made by Arab
leaders at a summit last week in Egypt to cut off funding and support for terrorist attacks against Israelis. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell made that point in a
round of phone calls to Arab foreign ministers, officials said.

Guess they have to play that game of fiction, otherwise we'd be insisting that the Israelis negotiate with terrorists, eh?
Oh ye of little faith.
All week long, you yahoo's have been trashing and ridiculing PresBush and his supporters here on FR, over his efforts with the "Road Map For Peace". You read a story from a liberal BeltWay rag, the Washington Post and all of a sudden you jump on the Bush Peace Plan Express. Well, welcome onboard!
Btw, wipe that egg off your face.

Not only can you not understand the finner workings of the dynamics in the middle east, you can't even understand that your comments damning Arial Sharon all week for responding to terrorist attacks, has now been exhonerated by the man who's plan you have been defending by doing so.
Not only this, I didn't have a problem with Bush's Road Map per se, I did have a problem if he was going to persue that Road Map over Israel's dead body. Well, guess what, he's not going to do that. This must be a great blow to you.
Am I basing this on the Washington Post alone? No. I am basing it on my own observations of Bush, Powell and Kofi Annan's statements, each of which damned the terrorist attacks in no uncertain terms, and left Israel out of comments other than to say that they hoped both Israel and the Palestinians would continue to work together for peace.
What escapes you also, is that this is EXACTLY WHAT I ADVOCATED.
As for egg fella, have a nice breakfast. I hear it goes good with crow.
LOL......we'll all be gray headed by the time his term is up; he plays things SO close to the chest.
I think this has been another brilliant move by our President.
It further exposes the targets for Israel and they just go around Arafat.
there will be no Pali state they will not need one.
My two cents has been spouted.
I'm convinced that their hands are not clean.
"I do however recognize that the terrorist groups are not all Palestinian. Hezbalah comes down from Syria. Other groups are not just located in the Palestinian territories."
Hamas, Fatah, et al are pali, and have done the most damage.
"Look, do you think that Abu Mazen would be safe if he immediately lashed out at the terrorist groups?"
I think that Abu Mazen is a dead man. He'll be lucky if he's not strung up in a pali town square after he's killed.
"At this point what choice do we have? We try to deal with him and see what happens."
Been done so many times before, everyone's got a t-shirt. W's belated change of stated policy, if not heart, is encouraging, though. It's been a long time coming.
I understand whats going on in the ME perfectly. I also understand that your backtracking bigtime because you stuck both your feet in your big mouth. The comments damning PM Sharon have not been retracted by PresBush and will not be retracted. Therefore PresBush hasn't exonerated Sharon, one iota. Bush doesn't talk out both sides of his mouth, like you do. Remember that. I hope this has taught you a good lesson.
>>>Not only this, I didn't have a problem with Bush's Road Map per se, I did have a problem if he was going to persue that Road Map over Israel's dead body. Well, guess what, he's not going to do that. This must be a great blow to you.
You're a first class liar. Its no blow to me, I've supported the Bush peace plan all along and still do. I didn't get my emotions all twisted like you did, rush to judgement and jump to all sorts of conclusions. That's what you did and you're not man enough to admit it. Pathetic.
>>>What escapes you also, is that this is EXACTLY WHAT I ADVOCATED.
More lies. Try again.
>>>As for egg fella, have a nice breakfast. I hear it goes good with crow.
I wouldn't know, bucko. You're the one jumping on the Bush bandwagon. But I'll say it again, welcome onborad. Better late then never! LOL
Right now Hamas is in the cross hairs and they know it.
Arafat has never been weaker
Middle Eatern leaders are openly denouncing terorism
Funding for terrorist groups are be cut off like never before
"The Road Map" is just an effort to isolate who "is with us and who is against us", why else would Ariel Sharon agree to this process. Sharon loves his homeland and would do nothing to undermine it. All this "Road Map" has done, and will do, is expose those who want peace and those who don't. Those who don't will pay a heavy price........ you watch :-)
