Recall Sucking Oxygen From California Senate Race (Davis recall helps Boxer)
Roll Call ^ | 6/12/03 | Josh Kurtz

Posted on 06/12/2003 8:05:06 PM PDT by Rensselaer

A meeting this weekend of 400 California Republican moderates was supposed to be a showcase for the party’s potential 2004 Senate contenders, culminating in a straw poll to bless a favorite.

Instead, the confab in the hills above Santa Barbara is likely to be dominated by talk of the effort to recall California Gov. Gray Davis (D).

Three potential Senate candidates are still scheduled to address the Brooks Firestone Republican Weekend, an annual event organized by Firestone, a former state Assemblyman and wealthy GOP power broker. But the straw poll has been scotched.

And now, two conservative politicians closely associated with the recall drive — Rep. Darrell Issa (R) and businessman Bill Simon, the GOP’s gubernatorial nominee in 2002 — have been granted speaking slots. While hardly the favorites of party moderates, both are considered likely candidates for governor if a recall election winds up on the ballot.

“We don’t exclude anybody who wants to talk to our people,” said Brandon Gesicki, a California GOP consultant who works with Firestone.

But the urgency of the discussion about the recall highlights a dilemma for Golden State and national Republicans as they seek a strong challenger to two-term Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) next year: The recall could wind up drowning the Senate race out completely.

“The recall’s affecting everything in California politics,” said Dan Schnur, a Sacramento-based GOP strategist who is advising one potential Senate candidate, Rep. George Radanovich (R-Calif.). “There’s no reason the Senate race should be an exception.”

...

“The Senate candidate will not receive any attention while the recall is on — that much is a given,” said one Sacramento-based GOP operative. “It could also affect fundraising.”

That’s not insignificant for a race where the Republican nominee will probably need $20 million to be competitive.

How is Issa a RINO?

My definition of a RINO is disrespect for the Constitution. Article IV of the Constitution guarantees that the United States will defend the several States from invasion.

Mr. Issa is soft on border control. QED

Fox News,, Tony Snow in for Brit Hume today.

Guest Richard Riordan re; Arnold and the Recall. only talked about Arnold and a couple words about Issa.

Riordan used word like moderates Republican but not together and did not make one utternace of the word conservative, nor acknowledge that there are a helluva lot better conservatives candidates already in California state govt ready to go, Like McClintock. What a POS Riordan is, imo, and Arnold.

I know he won't say the Simon word as he still has a bent pecker for Bill's old man.

A pretty disgusting display by Fox, both by Tony as well not mentioning any conservatives or McClintock or Simon at all. Yeah, Fair and balnced , my buTT!

The roundtable at the end was just as bad if not worse.

Let this state rot if Rove via Riordan via Arnold are handed the sceptre again to skrew us all over royally.

We don't need outsiders tor un this state or RINOs, Thank You Very Much , Karl or panel moderators.

Get a clue!

Arnold has no vision for this state nor Issa. Tom has been has it ready to go, but we need to get the rest of the herd to stop eating all this RINO locoweed in the political saloons .. errr. salons they hang in lately.

The CA GOP is being held hostage .. and so are all the conservatives..Again!!! United We Stand , My Patootie!!

There hasnt been an honest election in years in this state,

No there hasn't been! Stop voter fraud in California!

-------

For Immediate Release Contact: Ruth Gardner 661-859-2600

June 12, 2003

905 Fraudulent Votes Found in 30th Assembly District by Dean Gardner Volunteers. Investigation Centered on Kern County Portion of 30th Assembly Dist.

Today, Dean Gardner, made the following statement at a news conference in Bakersfield, Ca.

“For the last 30 years, I have heard about voter fraud in California, but it did not affect me directly and like you, I didn’t pay much attention. I didn’t realize how much voter fraud impacts all of us until recently.

In the seven months since the election, we have looked in detail at 2,460 of the 14,000 recently registered Democrat voters in Kern County that are registered to vote in the 30th Assembly District. I was shocked and dismayed by what we found.

I cannot give you any names or addresses because of the ongoing investigations.

In order to cast a legal vote in California, the voter must be at least 18 years old, must be alive, must be a Citizen of the United States, must not be a felon on parole, must be registered to vote and live in that district and that voter can vote only one time in that election.

Of the 2,460 voters that were examined 905 of these people in this sample cast fraudulent ballots.

For example, we found:

69 people actually admitted voting at least twice. These are just the ones who admitted it.

93 people admitted that they voted but are not citizens of the United States. They were told that if they registered and voted, it would help them get their citizenship.

272 people actually admitted that they do not live in the 30th Assembly District but that they voted in the 30th Assembly District

We found people that changed the spelling of their name slightly so that they could register and vote a second time. Someone named William also registered as Bill. We found people with the same name registered at the same address whose birthdays were exactly one year or one day apart. By changing their birth date, one person became two people with two votes.

The biggest problem that we found was the number of people who showed up at the polls and voted using someone else’s name. We have testimony from people who report that they went to vote and found that their name had already been used. People impersonated the legitimate voter. How did they do that? A lot of people are registered but don’t vote. Hanging on the wall in every polling place in the State of California is a list of the people that are eligible to vote at that polling place. By state law, every two hours, an election worker up dates the list with the names of the people who have voted. The cheaters send in someone with a cell phone to call back to the headquarters with the names of the people who have not voted. People claiming to be those people miraculously show up and vote.

We found 905 fraudulent ballots out of 2,460 voters. You do the math. Divide 905 by 2,460 you will get 37%. We estimate that 37% of the newly registered Democrat voters who voted in the Kern County portion of the 30th Assembly District cast fraudulent votes.

What we found in Kern County was seen all over California. Some places worse than others. There is a well oiled and well funded fraud machine run by liberal special interest groups that may be electing people to the legislature who should not be there and they are destroying our freedoms in California.

Let me give you some examples of the fraud. We have people who registered in October at a house that burned down two years ago. We have people registered to addresses that don’t exist. We have people who voted last November at the polls who actually moved to the Philippines two years ago.

I personally spoke to one man who admitted voting four times. I asked him why and he said that he cared more than most. I went with a volunteer to one house at random where seven votes originated and asked the woman how many people lived there. She said three. When asked about the other four voters, she said that her two daughters and their husbands always use her address to vote. They do not live in the 30th Assembly District. They just vote here.

The information that we have discovered was turned over to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office and to the Secretary of State’s fraud unit six months ago.

We have just handed the same information to the US Attorney’s Office.

Voter fraud is an attack on our basic freedoms and I cannot and will not sit back and watch it continue.

Last November, California voters turned down ‘same day voter registration’. Well, the liberal special interest groups in Sacramento did not get the message, because the Assembly just passed a bill allowing for same day registration in Alameda County. They call it a pilot program. We can not rely on the special interest liberals in Sacramento to stop the voter fraud. As you know, under current law identification is not required either to register or to vote, in fact, if you, as a poll worker or election official, ask a person to prove their identity, you have broken the law.

Therefore, I am announcing that immediately after the Gray Davis Recall is completed, I will sponsor a statewide initiative that will help clean up the voter fraud problem. It will require proof of eligibility and proof of identity when a person registers to vote and proof of identity when a person does vote.

If you buy something and write a check or use a credit card, you must have identification. If you want to get on an airplane in you must show photo id. It seems logical to me to require people to produce identification when they vote. It seems ridiculous to me that we allow people to walk into the polls, point at a name and say, “That’s me” and vote without any verification as to their identity.

One man told me “If we didn’t cheat, we couldn’t win”.

We have a group of people with no integrity attacking our basic freedoms. As you know, I served in the military and I swore to protect the Constitution of the United States. This is one way I can help do that. It is time to put California back in the hands of the people.”

Yeah , I know ;-) I been working on coming out more, so to speak and not be so much of a wallfower, LOL.

That's OK, my arteries needed a good reaming anyway.

Listening to squeaky Riordan lay his crap out and Tony sitting by smiling lit my fuse.

Screw the whole miserable lot of these aliens to humanity and not seeking what is good for California and instead padding their political and broadcasting careers.

It was FRee Pass FRiday for RINOs on Fox.

If it re-runs later, check it out, Folks. Go ahead and See what Fox and the RINOs think is our best hope. Name recognition, my patootie.

Yes, and that same Bustamante had a Central Valley educational center named after him then commissioned a bust of himself to be placed on display there (you can bet at taxpayer expense).

It might work the opposite way too. Before Reagan was governor, the Rats controlled all of California also. The pendulum swung in the other direction for a good many years with a number of Republican governors after Reagan.

The recall could also be a sign that the public has finally had enough of the Rats for a while.

The demRats should be so lucky to have a REpublican win , so someone else can come in and straighten this mess out by making big spending cuts, not big tax increases. They would claim the credit for success, of course, its in their genes, I'm afraid.

The demRats always claim the credit when stuff is going well, but when things nosedive, they become suddenly quiet, except for an occasional.. tax ... tax

In only a few short years , term limits have backfired, many say, and unfortunately, almost anyone is eligible to run and serve if elected by their local nincompoops/perps/voters.

This is not a surprise as many of the incumbents are products of California's educational machinery as well as the voters.

Norm,

The grassroots, now aided by the internet, have such great potential to keep out whomever we pillory, that we can see to it that all POS like Riordan can do is spend money. They can spend all they want, and get promoted by willing media -- in this case RINO friendly Murdoch Media -- but just spin their wheels.

It's true we still have some barren ground we yet to spread to, but it's fertile ground. We will penetrate it because people like you are relentless seeders.

What we are missing is dedicated leadership, political structure, and recognizeable kingmaking ability. When enough good people assume the first element, the latter two will surely follow in due time. It won't happen overnight, but it is clearly possible.

We're witnesses to something new. The saturation that aids propaganda in audio and visual media (where it blends into the background and becomes subliminal) doesn't have the same effect on the internet where it is becomes noisome and noxious and so tends to be counterproductive.

Readers see the volume put out by the RINO and DU plants. So it gets thoroughly retorted. But they continue to put it out as if nobody proved them FOS. Well, it shortly gets recognized as repetitive spam, and so tends to be skipped over.

I spotted what appeared to be a new spammer just the other day. So I alerted a few friends to look for evidence of nightshade-like plant behavior. There must've been some agreement, as that spammer has been pretty well neutered. Why waste time repeating the truth to the willfully deluded or to those who know they're lying and don't want others to know the truth? We take the occasional passing swipe and move on.

Conservativism with its promotion of decency and civility has finally found a place to grow and prosper and makes its case on its own terms -- the leisure to find the words that make truth universally recognizable.

Keep the faith.

Oh, Don't worry about me. I'll be OK.

Why , even this afternoon, I was having brainstorms and asking myself, How hard is it to start a new movement party anyway?

We live in a world where ideas and thoughts can be communicated instantly around the world, uncensored and unvarnished.

The problem is adjusting to that level of intensity.

Maybe we need a party of the internet, by the internet and for the internet.. Nyahhh!

Seriously, the CA GOP is fractured and along some strange lines. The push here appears to be go RINO now and later a conservative will be able to be elected as Gov. I dipsute that.

Maybe the true conservatives and even some libertarians can reach a new middle road, not benign or biased but anchored in truth and the Constitution of the United States and the Republic of California (a republic under attack which we sadly no longer can truly claim exists, we need to restore it!).

All FReepers, please send support ($$$) to the recall effort. I don't agree that this is pointless -- even if it doesn't succeed, it's the farthest we gotten with recalling a CA governor (as far as I'm aware). Just the fact that "Grayed-out" Red Davis is concerned enough to get his machinery going against this effort means he's concerned!

The only question is now who will be the next governor.
Because the recall vote is going to happen
and no way Davis could ever get 50% of voters
to say keep him.

A Republican takes the Governor's mansion, GW makes a deal to bail out California and carries the state in 2004.

More likely Davis, seeing the writing on the wall about late August, resigns and allows the recall effort to twist in the wind as the new governor, current leutenant gov Cruz Bustemonte, takes his seat! Bush continues to snub California and the state declares bankruptcy just after the election of President H. R. Clinton in 2008!
