A major loss. Prayers up for his family.

Very sad.
I seem to recall a recent news story that mentioned he was totally bedridden.
RIP, Mr. Brinkley.
To: Beelzebubba
Brinkley--who has a long and distinguished history of television news--was part of the famous
Hunley & Brinkley Report during the 1960's. He also had a distinguished second career at ABC with
This Week with David Brinkley for many years, too.
Despite his political leanings he will be missed. =(

Rest in peace, David.

I remember watching the Huntley-Brinkley Report in the late 50's and 60's. I think David Brinkley was the one who started what evolved into This Week on ABC, but Huntley-Brinkley were originally on NBC.

May God be merciful and lift up David to the Light of His countenance, and may perpetual Light shine upon him.

From Election Night 1996 -
Brinkley: "I wish to say that we all look forward with great pleasure to four years of wonderful, inspiring speeches full of wit, poetry, music, love and affection. More goddamn nonsense."
Peter Jennings: "You can't say that on the air, Mr. Brinkley."
Brinkley: "Well, I'm not on the air."
Jennings: "David, we are on the air."
Brinkley: "Too bad. I told you I was leaving."
To: Beelzebubba
Wasn't it Brinkley who said, thinking that his microphone had been turned off, after Clinton was re-elected, "Oh no, not four more years of this nonsense"?

Where was Hillary at the time of death? She's big on payback, and she better have a good alibi.

Back in the Nixon era I worked as a page/intern for both NBC and ABC. I remember Mr. Brinkley as a man of charm and wit. He could be taciturn at times but he was never sour or mean-spirited. Being in the same room with him and Eric Severide, Walter Cronkite and John Chancellor as well as several other 'old guard' commentators as they talked shop and shared stories was a very educational experience. Sad that he is gone but what a life he lived!
Good night 'Wrinkley', I'll have a scotch for you tonight.

He called Clinton "a bore" on election night. He apologized for it later.
