The Golan Solution - A Superhighway to Peace
Original discussions on FR and the Dragon's Fury Series | June 11, 2003 | Jeff Head

Posted on 06/11/2003 12:44:39 PM PDT by Jeff Head

The current roadmap to peace is fatally flawed. it expects of the Israelis in confronting terrorism what we would not expect of or tolerate ourselves.

It is time to apply the same principles to the Palestinian terrorists that we have allpied to Al Quida, the Taliban and ti the Ba'athists.

THE GOLAN PLAN
A SUPERHIGHWAY TO PEACE

The Palestinian people have until July 1st to turnover all terrorist organizers, participants and supporters to the IDF. This includes, but is not limited to, all mebers of Hamas, all members of the Islamic Jihad, all members of the PLO and all members of any other terrorist organizations as identifeid by the State of Israel who have taken credit for or otherwise been involved with terrorist attacks upon the nation of Israel.

After July 1st, the following conditions will apply for each and every terror attack by Palestinains, Arabs, Islamics radicals upon the state of Israel:

  1. Each time there is a terror attack, the borders for the Palestinian territories within Israel, including Gaza, will be moved inward by one Kilometer. This will not be an occiupation by Israel, it will be an annexation.

  2. Each time there is a terror attack the IDF will prosecute the specific perpetrators and planners of that attack with extreme prejudice wherever they seek refuge. Anyone harboring or supporting those individuals or the organizations they come from will be treated the same as the terrorists.

  3. It will be the ultimate responsibility of the Palestinian people to halt the Palestinian terror attacks. The shrinking of their borders will cease when the terror attacks cease.

  4. Once the terror attacks have ceased for a minimum of twelve months and once the above mentioned terror organizations and their members have been turned over to the IDF, Israel will seriously negotiate the creation of a Palestinian state in the remaining lands with elected leaders who are not members or affiliated with any of the above mentioned organization.

  5. If the terror attacks do not cease, then when the Palestinain lands are reduced to strips five kilometers wide, the remaining Palestinians will be forcibly deported to any Arab nation that agrees to take them, or to the coast of Lebannon if none shall volunteer.

The Palistinian leadership will never go for a plan like this. Only the people themselves could make it work...and, sadly, I don't see that happening quite frankly.

A plan such as this shows that the government of Israel is serious about dealing with a peaceful people (if they exist) and then allows for the justified acquisition of lands which enemies are using to attack Israel if they don't.

Last night's bombing just reinforces your comments...and reinforces the need for something like this solution, NOW.

Someone else made a comment in the lengthy thread about the Jerusalem bus bombing yesterday that I thought was very true:

[Paraphrasing: If you are stung by one wasp, you don't seek out that one wasp among the nest, you take out the whole nest.]

Terrorism will continue as long as their is fertile ground (economic, political, religious) for it. Right now, terrorism is politically and economically lucrative for those like Yassar Arafat.

Exactly. We need to give the Palestinians some kind of direct, unambiguous statement on how they can show Israel, ourselves and the rest of the world that they do not represent that fertile ground...in essence, that they are not a nest. If they will do that, then we can work with them to eradicate the terrorists from among them.

If they will not, then Israel has every right, while prosecuting a direct campaign against the terrorists themselves, to push those who harbor and abet them back until they have no more land from which to support the terrorists amongst them.

The sooner they come to that, the better as far as I am concerned.

With todays further horrific attack, the Israelis need to permanently remove Arafat and his thugs and implement something like this solution IMHO.

...and do it regardless of what others think...just like we did and are doing in Iraq.

IMHO, we need to let the Israelis pull off the gloves and implement something like this to put an end to the terror within their own territories once and for all.

re: "I am afraid at this stage that there is little prospect for another solution short of war."

Well, I think the seven day's war in 1967 never really ended, because the losers refused to surrender.

Anyway, Pharohs have come and gone, Rome has come and gone, the Kings of Europe have come and gone, America was discovered, and:

The Jews still remain, and are still true to the Torah, which was handed down by G-d about 3,500 years ago.

Wars come and go, that is a permanent condition of the world, I am afraid, and will be so until the whole world is Jewish.

See, there have been many wars fought in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, but as for the Jews? They never had a war amongst themselves.

They who align themselves with the goals of Israel, align themselves with the goals of G-d.

Although of course, the Israeli leaders may have made a few mistakes. But the goal is eternal.

Though I agree in general and in principle with your comments about the House of Israel (and I distinguish between that and simply the Jews because the covenant and promises are to the entire House of Jacob), I do have two comments:

1. Althougb wars have been fought in the name of Jesus...that doesn't mean He was doing it. Clinton did a lot of things in the name of the United States that I neither agreed with or took ownership of. Christianity is the true religion of peace, set forth by the Prince of Peace and His teachings of brotherly kindness, charity and love...Who will come again and usher in the peace you speak of from my perspective...and it will most definitely include the Jews and the entire House of Israel as He has promised because he was and is their Redeemer.

2. The House of Israel did fight amongst themselves...that's why there ended up being two Kingdoms which weakened them (mainly as a result of their turning away from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) and ultimately led to their captivity and dispersion.

Today, we need to get out of Israeli's way on this issue and let them handle the problem. We also need to be mindful of how we spend our support doallars with them. They need and deserve our support, both historically and presently IMHO...but it cannot be with no strings attached because the support and respect has to be a two way street. To date I believe it pretty much has, despite some bumps in the road. Most of those bumps now are coming from foggy botom IMHO.

Israel has it's own internal problem much like our democrats and republican one. Styme. They have pacific group willing to make concessions over and over; and of course the militant group that wants to move them out no matter the cost.

Coupled with frequent changes in leaders has made for a rather ineffective solution, plus we rattled their chain when they baracaded Arafat in this headquarters several months ago.

It is truly a big bowl of spaghetti.

Your idea is an excellent one. What it takes is resolve and fortitude. Can they agree?

It is truly a big bowl of spaghetti.

That it is. I hope they find the will and the fortitude to untangle the mess and see clearly to do what they have to do to resolve it as quickly and forthrightly as possible.

Your solution would take too long and the terrorists don't care how many they murder.
Israel should not only do as you suggestl they should immediately make plans to wipe out Islamic Jihad, Hamas, PLO, PLA, etc. post haste and do the same to whoever else declares war upon them which these terrorists most certainly have done.

If those groups you mention react to the Golan solution with more attacks...then each attack will only hasten the overall outcome as their operating territory reduces with each attack.

This plan puts the oweness on the Palestinian people where it belongs. Either they rid themselves of the thugs and those who supprt them from their midst...or cease to live within Israeli territory, period.

All the while, as the plan indicates, the Israeli IDF will prosecute the speciufic attacks and those conducting them.

Around 80% of the so called "Palestinians" approve of or sympathize with the attacks and manuevers of the terrorists.
Why should ANY more innocent Israelis die?
It is time for Israel to get serious about protecting its citizens; it is past time to wipe out ALL of Hamas, PLO, PLA, Islamic Jihad, within Israeli borders (including the so called West Bank and Gaza) etc.
There is room for your idea to also be implemented. I think more than the amount of land you noted should be taken for any future terrorist attacks.
Only when the terrorists realize they will lose in a drastic way if they continue terrorist acts will they even think about stopping the terror and bloodshed.

First, the terrorists would already be dead (blown up), secondly the terrorists would likely disassociate themselves from others for a period of time before committing the terror act (assuming they survive).

Secondly, terrorists are unlikely to be deterred by one kilometer of land being annexed as their hatred of Jews is stronger than any love of the land; indeed, as you may already know, many of the terrorists are NOT indigenous to the land anyway.

Thirdly, too many innocent Israeli lives would be lost in this slow scenario; it's past time for Israel to wipe out, in toto, those who have been warring against them for years. This includes Arafat, the PLO, the PLA, Islamic
Jihad, etc.

Fouth, the Arabs/Muslims would depend on the wretched UN to undo any annexation of land.

Back to the only realistic option: Wipe out those who have already declared war upon the State of Israel.

For those that remain, your idea is a good start, but more land must be annexed for any further attacks. Terrorists will not care about a kilometer of land so long as they can murder, especially murder Jews.

The terrorists plan on winning a war of attrition because they know they can win no other way.

I know that far, far too many Palestinians support the terror..that is why I am afraid this plan will not produce a negotiated solution. But neither will anything else at this point and at the end of this good faith effort by Israel, they end up with a contiguos and defensable nation.

In addition, what this plan does is put the oweness on those people and show the truth for what it is. All they have to do is escew terrorism amongst themselves and they end up with their desired Palestinian state

But I don't believe they will and that will become apparent leading to a clear and obvious need for Israel to clear the entire terriroties and make them part of Israel for their own defense and in the prosecution of this war as the war it is.

In the mean time, while doing so...they eradicate those organizations as they attack Israelis.

Look, I don't want to see any more innocent Israelis or Americans or others die or suffer either... but at this point, I am afraid there is no way to avoid more Israeli deaths...just to minimize them and resolve the issue fundamentally aand as quickly as possible in the process.
