Chief Wiggles -- Straight from Iraq
Friday, June 06, 2003
Hello folks --
I was moved by the letter from an Iraqi doctor to a Colonel in the US Army. As it is somewhat buried in Chief Wiggle's writings, I thought it would be nice to post it on it's own. Here it is for those that missed it:
I received a report of a statement an Iraqi doctor made to one of our colonels. I was moved by his comments and felt that it was worth sharing. Colonel, I wan to express how I feel in my heat and if you can, I ask that you pass my words to your leaders and commanders and the marines and soldiers who suffered and are suffering for my country. I want all of you to know that the great majority of Iraqis applaud your coming, your success in battle and your efforts to be kind, decent people now.
We suffered for many years and no one would help us, not even our Arab brothers. Only America had the strength, not only in military power, but also in vision, in character, in moral authority, in love for its fellowman to come to our aid. I know it is hard for the soldiers now, they have no air-conditioning in their vehicles, they must live on our streets to protect us, and they are away from their families. I want them to know that we know the sacrifices they make for us. I pray to Allah that they will sacrifice no more: too many already have sacrificed so much. Click Here for Full Letter
Washington Times Editorial

It is 17 months before the next national elections, and Republicans already smell victory in the air. In Capitol Hill watering holes and the halls of congressional office buildings, members and aides are whispering about the prospects of a major power shift in favor of the GOP come November 2004. Senate strategists are daring to predict a possible six- or even seven-seat pickup, which would strengthen the majority party's currently undependable 51 votes. More Republican senators would make significant changes in policy possible exponentially, and prevent legislative logjams, such as the stalling on President Bush's tax cuts. At this early date, however, it is prudent to keep in mind that everything would have to go right to bring about such a lopsided outcome. Click Here for Full Editorial
In the coming weeks and months, I will be working with the Congress to strengthen and improve our Medicare system. For nearly four decades, Medicare has been the binding commitment of a caring society. We must renew that commitment by providing our seniors with the preventive care and new medicines that are transforming health care in our country. We must protect seniors from high medical costs that can rob them of their savings. And we must place patients and their doctors at the center of every health care decision.
My goal is to give seniors more choices and better benefits under Medicare including a long-awaited prescription drug benefit. Those who like the current Medicare system should be able to stay in it and also receive help with prescription drug costs. Those who want better coverage should have access to an enhanced fee-for-service Medicare program similar to the health care coverage available to every federal employee, including every Member of Congress. Seniors should have the same types of choices their representatives in Washington do. And seniors who want the benefits of managed care plans including prescription drug coverage should have that choice as well. Click Here for Full Statement

The owner of that website is from Louisville. I have a friend who is getting his own Bush merchandise ready for an internet launch. When his site is up could you please promote it as well? He's a great grassroots GOP activist here in Louisville as well with good contacts in the Republican Party. His printing business isn't as big as the other guys but his work is just as good. I'd appreciate your help if at all possible. "Four more in '04!"
