The FRN "Freeps Ahoy" Cruise aboard the Carnival Cruise Triumph arrived back in Miami this morning.

No SARS, No Norwalk, No Terrorism - just a hell of a lot of fun, food and sun!

As the first cruiser back at his computer, I have the honor of starting this thread and posting the above pic, which was taken at the foot of the staircase descending into the "London Room", which was the dining room each evening for our Freeper Contingent.

He was chasing them. Not much happened. He tried to show off when they were complaining, but they didn't need him.

Katie, you missed a great time of people watching!

Besides the "Four Plastic Sisters/Brothers?", Helga and her harridans, we had "Alphonse - the fire dancer"

Alphonse had this long "Yanni" hair style and wore some strange theatrical pantaloons or some such. I believe he also had his eye brows permanently implanted or something.

He supposedly travels around the country as a "Fire Dancer Consultant/Trainer". He even had an entourage with him - also a bit different. Darlie maintains that the ahem, closest member of the entourage was his brother but I disagree with my better half's analysis of what his entourage was!

Hello all. We're back home, mildly sunburned, partially unpacked, and awash with Caribbean nostalgia. One major highlight for us was Stingray City off the coast of Grand Cayman. You haven't lived until you've been swarmed by about 50 hungry rays lusting for squid. Rumor has it that they also occasionally enjoy a nibble of tender Freeper thigh, but I digress... Another great memory was the waterfall climb at Ocho Rios, though wearing sandals made it just a bit dicey. Note to self: next time, rent the overpriced rubber shoes.

Major kudos to MinuteGal and the cruise committee for putting this together. You guys did a terrific job. And thanks again to everyone who braved the tough economy, wars, rumors of wars and pestilence to join us.

Not to mention the shrieking eels.

IT sings? ? ?

I played in a doomed rock band long ago, and also scratched out a living in a supper club for a while. Carnival was kind enough to let me have their piano bar for an hour or so one afternoon to regale my fellow freepers with a few tunes. For some reason, the little-known Billy Joel song "Roberta" seemed to be a big hit.

Several of us became regulars at the evening piano bar festivities hosted by a Carnival newcomer named Steve. That's also where The Shrew discovered that it isn't really possible to crush a Fosters oil can on your forehead. At least not completely.

Are you referring to Shrew's performance with the Foster's can or MY performance (or lack thereof) on Dunn's River Falls? ;)

It went very well, but of course we'd love to have had a few more cruisers.

Most particularly ones who play a lethal game of sand volleyball in 100 degree heat.

So glad you had such a good time. I have been on a Carnival Cruise before, and you do feel like a queen during it. The greatest thing is being taken completely away from all trouble, problems, etc. The world could end and you would not know!

Welcome Home!

Wow! And Michael Savage thought he was the only one who's character was being slurred by innuendo!

;-{)

I met Antonio - not Alphonse - in the gym in one of my many trips to keep the buffet table from permanently implanting itself above my belt. I showed him how to use the stairmaster/elliptical trainer. We struck up a rather cordial conversation about FreeRepublic!

I emphasized to him it's potential libertarian/conservative leanings and I believe we created a new table of Freepers - ever the salesman I am!

Soon thereafter Tony showed up for dinner in a white satin Tuxedo with cape and Blue satin shirt. He was also part of the amateur entertainers ensconced on board - this might have been a job application for him - and was well received.

Now, the fact that only FRBI was more well put together on formal night than Alphonse/Antonio/Tony merely indicated how handsome this guy really is and nothing untoward at all!

Now, having cleared that up! WHOTCSOTC!
