Nine Illegal Aliens Arrested [working construction. No American were willing work perhaps?]

Nine illegal aliens have been arrested while working on the New Hampton Inn project in East Aurora.

Investigative Reporter Luke Moretti tell us the Building Trades Council blew the case open.

Buffalo Building Trades Council President Daniel Boody said, "All in the name of greed."

Greed, say these top area union leaders, comes in the form of illegal aliens found working on the Hampton Inn Hotel project in East Aurora.

Last month, nine undocumented workers from Mexico were busted by immigration officers.

"Approximately eight guys getting out of the van."

The case got rolling after the Buffalo Building Trades Council was tipped off.

Daniel Boody said, "...complaints by non-union construction workers that are layed off that thought they would be working here for that employer."

The project developer is Paul Bandrowski. Union officials say not only did Bandrowski have illegal aliens working on the seven million dollar, eighty room hotel project, they stayed at a residence he owns on Main Street.

Mike Barczys of Carpenters Local #9 said, "...hard for a guy and for a superintendent of that caliber to not know that on his site when he walks through nine illegal aleins are working there."

But Bandrowski tells us a sub-contractor handled the work detail and temporary housing. He denies having any knowledge of the situation.

Question: You don't have any knowledge of that at all? Aurora Ventures Chairman Paul Bandrowski said, "None at all. We would never condone it. We as a company make sure that every contractors we have, with every sub-contractor says that everybody has to be legal to work in the United States."

An immigration spokesman from Vermont tells me that nine illegal aliens were arrested on May 23rd. Eight have since been deported back to Mexico. One remains in the United States because of a criminal history.

Despite the labor setback, work continues on the East Aurora Hampton Inn, scheduled to open this summer.

(mercy seems to be @ a loss for words....:o)...)

I have never seen any evidence that they create lower prices.>>>>>>>>

Me neither.....One of our local 'ethnic restaurants' owned and run by legals (I Guess ?) is also well known for employing ILLEGALS in the kitchen. Same restaurant is also known to be one of the MOST EXPENSIVE places in our small town to eat out.
Guess most of their 'clientele' receive all OUR *gov't freebies* which allow THEM to be able to afford to eat out often, and keep their fellow countrymen in business.

Do they help our 'local economy' ?? Not much.....they have created their own little 'city' in our area. Complete with their own ILLEGAL garages, plumbers, carpenters, fence builders, roofers, electricians and just about any other 'services' they require, that US TAX DOLLARS do not provide for them.

No American were willing work perhaps?

Not so!

We PAY people NOT to work in this country.

THAT is why the illegals can get these jobs, no one else HAS to do them.

Quit giving MY (and your) money away to NOT work and just see how fast this situation will change.

Oh, sure, there will be rioting in the streets for a while, but things will level out.

We all benefit immensly from their peonage in EVERY aspect of our daily lives.>>>>>>>

see my post # 41 ...... and please list ALL MY benefits from an 'under-ground' network of immigrants (legal & ILLEGAL) performing these ILLEGAL services that IN FACT hurts our local LEGAL business owners, and CHEATS our local gov't out of LOCAL TAXES that ARE NOT being collected.

All Contractors require the I-9 paperwork prior to employment. Illegals are employed by a few shysters in the business as a way to make more money and price their work low enough to get the job.

A developer/owner not wanting to pay the local costs will keep dangling the opportunity in front of low-ball marginal contractors at a stupidly low price to see if some will rise to the bait.

Honest contractors, even "merit shop" will not employ illegals. I have seen both union and non-union contractors attempt payroll scams by (1)kickbacks, (2)excess apprentices, (3)illegals, (4) pay below contract or legal requirements of the project. Established Contractors usually don't mess with such dangerous behavior.

Lots of illegal Poles working on construction in NYC who are preferred over Mexicans for the same reasons. Besides, many of the Irish who came here in the 80s/early 90s have moved back to Ireland.

Last time we had mass legalization in '86, it did NOTHING to solve the problem. They only continued to bring more of their worthless families in through "family reunification," dumping their parents and wives on social services and their kids on our overcrowded public schools that those who pay property taxes must foot the bill for.

I would accept a "guest worker" provision under certain conditions: 1. We drop all the "family reunification" nonsense that is at the root of the social problems that mass immigration brings, 2. We diversify the national pool of those enrolled in the program and 3. We FOLLOW UP on those who are admitted and deport them if they fail to renew their work permits.

BTW: It takes a lot of balls to use ethnic slurs when you are behind a keyboard. Take your hypocricy and bleeding heart attitudes to DU.

Unfortunately, more and more land in Eastern Suffolk is being taken up by idiots who seem to enjoy commuting 50-60 miles each way.

LI produces drikeable wines as well, although the best wine in NY State is produced up in the Finger Lakes.

I love driving out to Suffolk county during the summer.

St. James, Riverhead etc.. Farms and antique stores...

Western Nassau county where I live is becoming very much like the Queens I grew up in.

This is a dreadfully written article - sentence fragments all over the place, disjointed, difficult to follow. Are all their printed works as atrocious?

Southwest Nassau native here. It was like Queens when I was living there (1980s) although it still voted GOP. Now, Southern Nassau is represented by that SHREW Carolyn McCarthy and Lawn Guyland has not gone GOP in a Presidential election since 1988.

To keep on topic, I must say that the illegal Salvadorans have at least shaken things up in the dump known as Hempstead Village. That place was like a smaller Bed-Stuy when I was a kid.

Up till recently Peter King was my Rep. now we've been moved to McCarthys domain.

It may not be the Conservative place it once used to be, but no one has trashed the "Support President Bush and our Troops" sign on my front lawn yet :-)

All Contractors require the I-9 paperwork prior to employment.

There's a very easy way around that, which I observed while doing time at the local full-service carwash. Our illegals had four sets of male IDs and two sets of female, and whoever needed them that day would take 'em.

Worked like a charm to keep La Migra off the company's back, but it always pissed me off.

Greed comes in the form of unions who raise prevailing wages over

What about the CEO's making $5 million a year with $2 million bonuses who don't care what they're doing to the poor taxpayer with all their subsidized labor? Of course they can get the profits high because they pay low wages and no health insurance or other benefits, leaving all that up to the taxpayer.

Well, according to *some* this should now make it much CHEAPER to eat out in NYC....(no more 18 dollar hamburgers....:o)..)

Even the local Pizzerias in New York are now staffed by Mexicans. >>>>>>>>>>>>

So much for the 'melting pot' that made this such a great county. All 'baby boomers' need to DEMAND free spanish lessons from our gov't immediately, or we won't be able to communicate with the workers at the SS office, come retirement time. IF there's any SS monies left for those TAXPAYERS who have paid into it all their working lives.

When did gov't decide it was 'politically correct' to allow the USA to be invaded to the point that taxpayers are now FORCED to pay all the translation costs of any gov't business into *mostly* ONE FOREIGN language ??

illegal immigrants "taking-job-that-lazy-Americans-won't-do".

That's not it at all. I've been through a lot of temp jobs recently and have seen a lot of white guys busting their buns to hold onto low-paying jobs. The illegals don't work harder and they're not more reliable. Why do employers keep them on? I'm not sure. Maybe it's the presumption that the illegals do a better job overrides the reality that they don't. The worse a hiring blunder an employer has made, I notice, the more defensive he gets about the obvious failure of the decision. Business sometimes seems to be more about pride than the bottom line.

You benefit everyday from slave labour and you like it!

I have no illegal housemaids or gardeners and I happen to live in a state that has a very high state budget deficit ---much thanks to massive third world immigration ---where we are being told we will get higher yet property taxes ----even though this is a low wage area, property taxes are already at the level of New Yorks. I don't think you can make the claim that Texasn or Californias are benefitting in any way ---other than a handful or people getting filthy rich with low labor costs.

If cheap labor was really such a benefit ---then why isn't Mexico with it's even cheaper yet labor not doing better economically?
