Yeah, you are right, anyone that doesn't get in lockstep with you is an anti-Bush propgandist.

You probably know a whole lot more about things in the mideast than the rest of us because you spend so much time watching tv news. And posting to FR.

I'm a registered Republican. Just not a bootlicker.

I think Bush has some some good things, but in this or any past administartion, what you see isn't always what you are getting. YOu've gotten so caught up in cheerleading that you've lost any objectivity you might have once had to the point of not even recognizing yourself as a strict partisan. Oh well, time for me to go eat some supper.

Not a Bootlicker is a code for I voted for Pat and the Perot Rat.

Did you vote for GW in the 2000 election?

Who do you plan to vote for in 2004?

Makes for a strong foundation to fend off attack mice against this Administration. And you?

I'm not interested in using this thread for off topic questions. The answer would be just as irrelevant to the thread as the question the other poster asked.

Message me if you want to know the answer to the off topic question.

So any criticism is an electronic lynching? No questions can be asked? No one is allowed to hold anyone's feet to the fire?

You are too old to be a coward.

I am already seeing email from the rank and file soldiers telling a whole different story than what the military is allowing the press to release.

Ok, SLB, how 'bout a little cut and paste action? Since old election slogans have popped up on this thread, let me add:

"Where's The Beef?"

BL, I'm sure you have some homeboys knocking around Central Iraq, what are you hearing?

Before the war started, the doomsayers led a chorus of catastrophic predictions that the Iraq incursion was doomed to failure. Perfumed prognosticators such as David Hackworth decried the state of preparation and equipment of the troops, and counseled that caution an postponement was the best policy to follow. There were warnings of increased terrorism, of deadly weapons of mass destruction attacks on our advancing forces, of a groundswell of righteous indignation from the Muslim world, and the everlasting hatred of the U.S. by the Iraqi people and their global Islamic brethren.

Once the operation began, the screeching rose in intensity, with stories of fierce and unexpected resistance from Saddam's faithful, of dissention in the ranks of the leadership over strategic decision making, and diplomatic bungling of the talks with Turkey. The criticism did not slow with the conclusion of hostilities, as was shown by the non event known as looting of the Iraqi National Museum.

Now that the process of rebuilding has begun, the peanut gallery is still hard at work, not offering mea culpas for their grossly inaccurate prewar assessments, but rather with renewed efforts to find some weakness in the administration's policies. There are no weapons of mass destruction they say (never mind the fact that these are the same weapons that the critics said were going to be used on us if we attacked), or the troops will have to be in place forever.

It's pretty obvious to me that the goal is simple criticism of Bush, regardless of what he does. How many of those who carp today would praise the President for "keeping his word" if we pulled out in six months and left Iraq a churning cesspool? I'm sure they would then switch gears and decry the horrible treatment of the innocent Iraqi population and the gutless lack of willpower on the part of Washington.

Let's face it folks, the axis of Buchananites, Naderphiles and the minions of Tom Daschle will never be satisfied. We Bushbots just can't see things clearly as they do, we cannot recognize the hidden hand of American hegemony, or the bungling ineptitude of the drunken frat boy (take you pick) that threatens the very fiber of our Republic.

I wonder what they're going to complain about after Iran and North Korea have shaken off their bonds of tyranny and joined the world of sanity?

And besides, it's good for the generals to be reminded every once in a while that even though their opinions are welcome, their job is to follow orders.

Except in this case the general in question was testifying before congress. So unless you think lying to Congress is following orders, the general did the right thing.

"BL, I'm sure you have some homeboys knocking around Central Iraq, what are you hearing?"

That they want more cookies and snacks ... more CARE packages. Other than that, little else. They aren't even complaining about the heat, as it's not that much different than here at Fort Hood.

As always, soldiers raise the art of griping and complaining to a fine art. So it's hard for someone who has not been in the military to differentiate between normal grousing and b*tching and honest heartfelt complaints that actually refer to a problem. But the guys I've been "hanging out" with from 4ID, the 82nd, and the 101st .. (I don't know anyone in the 3rd ID) .. haven't said anything serious yet in regards to complaints about the situation there.

Also, anyone who makes an "anonymous" complaint deserves the derision that results. If someone .. particularly an NCO or an officer .. isn't willing to tie their name and reputation to an official complaint, then what they're complaining about ain't serious enough and they've simply shown themselves to be moral cowards.

Well, just so the record is straight in the future- we will be in the Middle East for a long time to come. We've been there for decades and we will undoubtably be there when you are long dead in your grave. Let there be no mistaking this. No matter what any politician tells you- there you have the honest unbridled truth. It was the truth before George W Bush ever took office, it was the truth before Clinton. It was as plain as the nose on your face and anybody who says "Oh well, I believed what some politician told me" is being dishonest. Nothing could have been plainer.

Our troops are 'Over there' and they won't be back 'Till it's over over there!'

That's the long and short of it.
When has it not been like this?
It's been this way since I was born.
If it were suddenly not like this- it would be tatamount to the sun not coming up in the morning.

As long as our nation is threatened by Middle Eastern fanatical terrorism and as long as the world is dependent upon petroleum- we will be over there fighting for the very security of our nation and the world at large. There could not be a more fitting role for our military to play than fighting for the security of our home land and I'd much rather fight our enemies in their back yard than in ours or in one of our neighbor's.

As long as Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria et al exist we're going to be over there fighting at various levels of intensity. Iraq was just the opening act. The very last thing I want to see the military do is give up this newly conquered piece of territory. It is a key strategic piece of ground. We fought too hard for it to just leave now. It is the perfect place from which to conquer the rest of the region and it would be the height of folly to just give it up- democratic whiners and thumbsuckers notwithstanding.

Our leadership from the top down to the lowest private on the streets of Baghdad have done a magnificent job, unequaled in history. All you want to do is tear it down.

That is the way I see it too!

The third party whiners/losers hate our president, Rummy, Powell and our military more than the Rats do.

Aren't too fond of the country, either.

Last I saw, the entire premise for third-party candidacies is to act as spoiler, and get a rotten person elected. Then, the logic goes, the electorate will crawl back to them on their knees.

This shows a willingness to encourage others' suffering for their own personal gain. Exactly what we detest in Democraps.

Oh for God's sake, who didn't already know all this? Bush had been saying all along that we'll be there as long as it takes, so has Rumsfeld. And, obviously, it'll take a sizeable force to execute the mission. These people need to quit their bitching.

Absolutely right!

When did the Administration promise us a quick occupation with a minimal number of troops, and new and functional democracy up and running in a couple of months, or even a year? Surely you must have some links to some quotes to back up your premise, because I don't recall anything like that.

I think the press assured us that we'd win the war in 24 hours, and when it took just a little longer, we're in a quagmire.

Well, you're part of the quagmire crowd, and prancing around saying "I told you so, I told you so" may do wonders for your ego, but doesn't do much for me.

Keep rooting for failure. That's what the unloyal opposition always does.
